Loader L4850 with LA950a loader - does not go very high

A friend at work just made a discovery... It looks like the lower cylinder pin on my loader is into an asymmetrical bracket welded to the uprights. In the pictures of other loaders it look like that bracket is symmetrical and possibly a little higher. It seems possible that when my unit was welded it was put a little lower... an inch would probably make a big difference........

Yes I see it - I'll measure mine later today. In the meantime I dug up a few more L5450 pics - there seems to be some variation in the shape and location of that bracket.

I'm still going stick with my guns for a while. Some how it has the wrong booms or loader on his tractor. I'm not talking about the pin size, it's the location from the bend in the boom. It does look like both the 950 and the LA1150 use 24" cyl. The other thing that is missing on his loader booms is the model #. That was a red flag to me right away.

........Dick, when you get a chance can you please measure the pin distance from the main loader pivot to the lower cylinder pin - see picture........

That dimension on my LA1150 c-c is 16-7/16" (419 mm).

My rig looks like the second pic in post #21 (it has the same 12x16.5 front rubber as you have). I've owned a L4150 with a BF900, and two L5450's with LA1150's. They all reached around 9-1/2 feet - high enough to load a dump truck.

Clint - Here's a pic of my LA1150 with some dimensions added.

Comparing it with your pic above, the corner plates on the boom appear to be different shape. The lift pin seems to be further forward on yours?

LeeJohn - I now see what you've been saying - the pin on the BF900 loader on the L4150 (1st pic in post #3) does look further back from the corner than the pin on Clint's loader. Sorry I was slow to notice it. The corner plates on the BF900 in post #3 look like the ones on the LA1150 in post #25.

Here's another clue - the LA950A loader was also used on L4350 tractors. There are two L4350 tractors with LA950A loaders on Tractorhouse right now, this one, and this one.

Looking at their pictures they both seem to have the same asymetrical brackets and corner plates like Clint's but they look to have LONGER LIFT CYLINDERS.

I found a loader thread from 2007 with more pics that confirm the theory. This makes three LA950A loaders where the other boom parts look like Clint's but the lift cylinders are longer.
