Im in the middle of a full service on my gl 3540, all was/is going well, but i cant for the life of me get the hst filter to break free. My filter wrench with a breaker bar is bending?

I bought an adjustable filter wrench that you use with a ratchet for ours, they are a bear to get off and a regular filter wrench is not strong enough for ours.

Im about to drive a screwdriver through this thing!

I've used the screw driver too in a moment of desperation, sure is messy.

If the filter is hot, it might help to let it cool off.

The machine is cool, i was actually thinking of trying a heat gun on the collar of the filter, @ this point im ready to try anything, just used a rachet strap wrench to the point that the strap failed!

I have a vice grip brand filter wrench. It allows a good grip all around the filter. Since using it I've not had to use the screwdriver trick. I recommend it.

Is it painted on? if so take a utility knife to cut around the seal.

Its not painted on, in fact its not the factory filter. I performed this service a few years ago and had no problem what so ever?
