Everytime I had a bad switch I couldn't hear/feel the switch click when I used my finger to engage switch, never had a bad controller, if I remember it was mostly the micro switchs at the steering controls that went bad,they get alot of mud and moisture from the wheels. I would start there, and its important to get the correct switch for the correct function. Hope this helps.
