4\' or 5\' on B7500HST ???

Yesterday I did some rotary cutting with a 4' Howse that my neighbor wants to sell (no price yet). I cut aprox. 1 and 1/2 acres of tall (12" or better) field grass and weeds. My B7500 handeled this job without any hesitation. I did not like the fact that the cut is inside the wheel tract. Does anyone out there use a 5' cutter on the B7500? If so are there any horsepower problems? The owners manual states that a 60" cutter can be used. Thanks.

i would think that a 4' mower would be better on the 7500. i am running a 5'er on my 2910. it also depends on how cheap you neighbor wants to sell the mower!

I use a 5 foot rotary with my B7500HST, but I only use it infrequently and don't go nuts with it. The tractor handles it well. I go slowly through the thicker stuff. A 5 foot rotary is larger than recommended The owner's manual says 42" for a rotary, 60" for a 2 or 3 blade finish mower. When I use the rotary cutter, the FEL is on for better handling. Without it the front end feels too light.....................chim

I use a 4' on my B7500 and I'll cut 1+ " stuff without a problem and the tractor handles the size really well. I'd be leary of a 5' model on where I cut (hilly, ditches, etc).

Re: 4\' or 5\' on B7500HST ???

My tractor is a little bigger, a B2910, and I was uncertain what size rotary cutter to buy. I ended up with a 5' unit and it seems to work well for my uses. I thought 4' might be better actually, but that would not have stuck out beyond my rear tires...

I bet if I had the B7500 I would go with a 4' cutter. All depends on how hard you will work it. Also, I guess you are thinking about a light duty cuttr. I know a 5' medium duty cutter would be too heavy for my B2910, so it would certainly be too heavy for your B7500, since the medium duty cutters weigh in at over 1,000 lbs...

Kubota says a four footer. But you could probably get away with a five, if you are cutting stuff that doesn't bog the tractor down with a four footer. Just make sure you don't overload your motor.

On the other hand, if you can get a good deal on the 4' then you should think about that pretty seriously. ("good deal" means at *least* half, maybe less, than what you'd pay for a new one...)
