Default Kubota dealer doesn\'t carry Kubota UDT!

I recently purchased a BX1500 and it is just about time for the 50 hour first service. I got the BX1500 used, not through the dealer. I went in today to get the special Kubota UDT hydraulic fluid and they don't carry it! They say they use Case hydraulic fluid because it meets the same specifications. They've never carried the Kubota oil, yet when I counted they had 3 BX1500's, 2 BX2200's, plus about 20 other brand new larger Kubota's. This is the dealer that would do my warranty work if I had any. My next closest dealer is 45 miles from my house and I'm reluctant to make the drive.

So - question for all you "experts" out there --> Should I go with the Kubota dealer recommendation and use the Case oil I purchased, or return it and order the real thing? I guess I'm thinking that if I'm not using Genuine Kubota then I might as well use a good brand of full synthetic hydraulic fluid. I think there is a Mobil 1 version available close to me.

I did get all the correct Kubota filters for this 50 hour service.

Did you try this at Longmont Farm supply??? I got my UDT down here in the Springs at Steele tractor. You can get about the same price by ordering thru Carver's. That is where I got my tractor so they are great to work with.

This was at B&G in Greeley, CO. I'll checkout Carver's this afternoon.

I ran into the same thing here in MA when I went to the local Kubota dealer. They are a NAPA auto parts dealer also so they don't carry any fluids by Kubota. Doesn't make sense to me why not, because there is a market for the product, but they just watch people leave because they don't sell what some people want. If it is in warranty, it is just as easy to use the Kubota product and avoid any warranty claim problems. If you have them do a service on your tractor and there is a lubrication related claim, do you think that Kubota will honor it if they installed anything other than Kubota oil? If it were a Case tractor and they used Kubota oil instead of Case oil, would Case honor the warranty? I doubt it. It is the same thing... the manufacturers want to sell oil.... their own brand of oil!!! Out of warranty, use what you feel is correct for your situation. Just poorly educated business people in my opinion!

There are differences in oils. I do like to stick with factory oils and recommend it to everyone.

My weak memory tells me Mobil 1 may contain graphite particles. That may work ok in some situations, but I'm not certain hydraulic cylinder seals will seal well against graphite.

I use the Kubota Super UDT which is synthetic. It's far more slipery compared to the regular Kubota UDT oil.

...just my 2 cents.

Kubota strongly recommends the Super UDT for the transmission in your BX. The SUDT is part synthetic and from all accounts it does perform better in the colder parts of the country, so thats what I use. Kubota also recommends SUDT in the front axle, but also says gear oil would wor, so I got good, synthetic gear oil. I also use Amsoil Synthetic for the engine, though it's not required. It just makes me feel good!

In my part of the country, it very common for Kubota dealers not to carry Kubota fluids. The Kubota dealers around here aren't pure Kubota dealers, they are established big ag dealers and have taken on Kubota to supplement their sales. When my first service came due, my dealer promptly handed me Case hydro fluid.

The Dealer where I bought mine does not handle Kubota fluids either.

I drove 100 miles round trip to get the Super UDT and will continue to do so.
IMO The Design Engineers know far better than I do.
