    Default Kubota L3200 arrives

I made the decision and bought the used L3200 last Wednesday, since having to pass by the dealer who sold the tractor to the original owner. Decided to drop it off and have it serviced and checked out before bringing home. It's a 2011 and has 242 hours on it and has some warranty left, so thought not a bad idea to have a good run through. I think I did okay with the price, $13K for tractor with quick detach loader with the quick detach 60" bucket. I got a hay spear that attaches to the quick change plate and a set of weights, 600 lbs, set up for a ballist system. Here's what I've learned thus far.

The kubota dealer who sold it and who did the service work, made me wonder how they could be in business. Told me they'd have it ready in 2 days, took 8, they lost the ticket for service, lost the key (now I know never to leave the key). When I finally was able to pick it up at least they told me everything checked out. I checked their work and verified they did change all filters, greased it and per the mechanic who did the work, did check it over good. However, learned I'll never go there again and will drive to Barlow's in Somerset from now on.

I took it the day after bringing it home and picked up a building that my wife found for her new chicken house. 4'x8' building, so thought I'd give the tractor a test & a test it was and I was really impressed with how the hydraulics and loader. I lifted it (my neighbor had a universal forklift attachment for his bobcat that worked on the Kubota plate) and drove it about 120 feet and drove right up on my car hauler with it.

I'm new to the HST world, all my other tractor experiences was gear transmission. I did like the HST for the loader work.

Tonight I mowed and I have a older Woods RM-59 rear mount mower. Great condition and I've used for years with my Yanmar 220D. Took some time adapting and setting up for the Kubota.

I didn't like the HST for mowing. My property is hills, when making the turn to start up the hill, even in low gear, the tractor speed bogged down dramatically. It picked back up about 40 to 50 feet and did find the until the next swath. Had it in full throttle and only cutting about 1 1/2 inch off the grass & field is not really thick as we're trying to get grass to grow back. My gear drive Yanmar never dropped speed when mowing but I think I'll adapt.

The tractor has R1 tires and I was wanting R4's but since I bought it used, went with what was on it. Good traction but it wasn't as stable feeling as the Yanmar, which has turfs. Thus, I didn't mow all the areas I usually do but never once had an issue with it, just a little taller than I'm used to and not as wide, so again, something I'll probably get used to as I use it more.

One thing I loved was the power steering, man, mowing around 100 trees was much easier with the Kubota. Here's a photo of the tractor when I brought it home.
