I have both, not really sure why... got a used deal price on both. What serial number range was your L3400? IF it's before 54 to 56,k - that's the older stuff... so get the one that doesn't mention L3700.

I don't think there is much difference between the two... they used up the L2800 and L3400 parts to create the L3700. You'll be covered with either for the L3400DT model... personally, I would get the "newer" one that mentions the L3700, it would cover serial number changes for more parts.

No need to buy parts manuals anymore like I did when I bought my tractor 10 years ago.

Kubota has them available online at their website!

Messicks also lists the link on their website.

Serial number 54535, so sounds like an older one.

This is what I was wondering, I have used the parts diagrams on kubota.com already, thanks.

I bought the WSM labeled L2800 - L3400 P/N 97897-131909 when I bought my tractor back in '09. I also bought the Illustrated Parts List Manual P/N 97898-22952 at the same time. I find that I use that manual often for much better exploded diagrams of parts. I also bought the Flat-Rate Schedule for my tractor at that time also.

I've found that it's a good idea to own your personal WMS's if for no other reason than to diagnose a problem, should one occur. That doesn't mean that I personally make every repair, but it does help avoid the 'smoke and mirrors' repair tales that some dealers want to throw out there.

I do make every effort to buy the WSM's for every new piece of equipment or vehicle that I buy at the time of purchase. One never knows how long the manual and/or parts catalog will remain online. Besides, I like to have my manual on the workbench while I'm investigating a problem.

Overkill? Yup. That's just me...

I got a response back from my inquiry to Messicks in case it helps anyone else going forward.

The only difference with the newer manual (#9Y011-13194) that lists the L3700 is "a supplement for a model L3700su tractor". As long as you aren't worried about that model, you can pick either.
