Still Have to Change Coolant Every 2 Years?

I change the coolant when the water pump goes bad.

I change mind when the radiator hose goes bad, with second hand anti freeze.

I Never change my coolant in any vehicle unless the radiator has to come out for another reason, and that is very seldom. Every year I add additive package. No cooling system issues or failures in +million miles, thousands of hours.

I have vehicles going on 20 years.

In my truck SCA is required. In the tractor, I don't know if it's required or not but use it regardless. I'd have to check the jug to be sure, but 5 years sounds familar.

If you use green coolant you can add something with SCA's. I've used Winns before. In my 4610 SU I use the Ford FW15. Here is a Motorcraft version.

As I had to remove the radiator in my 2003 Terminator, First time change in 14 Years, This time I used Royal Purple Purple Ice. Old Antifreeze still seemed fine. From what I could see, there was absolutely no corrosion or sludge in the cooling system or jackets. Steel cooling lines were shiny metal internally also.

Nice looking engine bay !

FTR, SCA does not protect the radiator (hoses, lines, etc...), reduce sludge, or inhibit corrosion. SCA is depleted through use over time. There are test strips available for SCA, but IIRC they aren't accuarate in some applications.

SCA is primarily for mitigating cavitation induced corrosion, in older coolant formulations.

Personally, I would rely on just SCA to deal with chemical corrosion, long-term.
