So I am trading a 2004 M6800 Cab and 15 foot batwing for a pre-emissions 2013 L5740 and 12 foot batwing. Both batwings are Landpride.

I am looking forward to HST vs Hydro Shuttle. I wanted this tractor (or the L6060) from the beginning and allowed some buddies to talk me out of it. I was a little concerned about a 10 foot disc I use for food plots but I don't think the 5740 will have any problems with it as it is not that heavy and does't get that deep. I am just personally a huge fan of Hrdrostatic Tranny's. In addition I will be able to transport this compact tractor vs. my full sized tractor on my 16 foot trailer. Looking forward to this trade. I have decided life is too short to worry about this decision....if I am wrong I will trade back for another M6800 or M7060.

I will miss my M6800. It is a stout excellent tractor, but for what I do and what I need to do, I think overall the Compact Tractor will serve me better. And I have some old horsepower in the barn should I need it with the old IH 674.

edit post: I'm not gonna lie though..I am sweating this trade a bit.....

I think you will like the L5740 HSTC,can't seeing it fit on a 16' trailer.

I expect that you will like the 5740.

I have an L6060, bought new in late 2015. I much wanted an L5740 to avoid the Tier IV nonsense, but conditions mandated that I buy before I could find a good, low hour 5740 in my area.

Yes, your 5740 will handle a light weight 12' bat wing in most conditions if you do not expect high ground speed.

That said, a price must be paid for the convenience of the hydrostatic transmission. The price is efficiency.

My L6060 replaced a 2007 MF 533 (2007 version of the 135). The 533 had a 202 CI 3 cylinder NA long stroke Perkins engine de-rated to 45 PTO HP for use with the single reduction 533.

My L6060 uses about three times as much fuel to mow the same parcels with the same mower as did the low tech (inexpensive) 533.

Regardless, the versatility of the HST, FWA, wet brakes, etc., allows me to get the work done in less time and with less stress on me.

BTDT, and will not go back.

Love my L5740HSTC, I'm sure you will too.

I'd have seriously thought about a low hour L5740hstc over my L4060hstc. More power, less emissions gear. But financing a used machine was going to be a pain & I went new.

This is good to hear. Thanks. Looking forward to using it this week when it gets here. I think for what I do and my needs this should serve me better.

Do all of the 5740 exhaust come down and out the side of the tractor? How hard is it to remove the front end loader?

Anyone messed with the hydro pressure any?

Yes, exhaust is the same on all, but some have modified them, It's very east to remove the FEL, five minutes maybe and less if you have someone on the ground, there is a YOU Tube showing how.

I am looking forward to HST vs Hydro Shuttle.

I'll pray for you. There ain't no way that thing will have enough power for a 12 foot mower. Plus the hydro stinks.

Keep the M6800 unit.

Good luck! Fred
