Tractor
Kubota B2910, BX2200, KX41-2V mini EX
But somehow I can't blieve it is... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Happened to be looking at the Cirtificates of Origin for the two tractors and here is what is written:

B2910 Ship Wt. = 1,493 GVWR = 1,763

BX22000 Ship Wt. = 1,856 GVWR = 1,865

I don't believe this is correct. I think my BX has to be lighter than the B2910.

What does the GVWR mean? I know the B2910 is shipped without the tires...but would the GVWR include the weight of the tires? I assume the BX ships with the tires and that is why the ship weight and GVWR is the same...

Guess I am just surprised to find out that the B2910's little brother is actually a chubby little brother... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

They must have had a security guard riding on the BX's pallet to make sure it was delivered successfully!!!!

Not chubby, muscular. The B2910 was probably a beanpole to begin with. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating)
Total weight a vehicle is rated to carry by the manufacturer, including its own weight and the weight of its load.

BX22000? New model?

Seriously, there has to be an error in the BX numbers.

The Kubota brochure says a BX2230 weighs 1,290 pounds (tractor only) and a BX23 weighs 1,520 (should include loader and backhoe weights). If you add the loader lift capacity of 460 pounds to the BX23 it adds up to 1,980 then you have to add the weight of the average driver to that figure.

I can believe the GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) figure. Motorhomes and travel trailers are notorious for being overloaded so I guess tractors may be also.

The BX23 as a complete unit has to weigh in more than 230 pounds over the BX2230. The backhoe unit alone weighs in the vicinity of 600 pounds and I think the loader is 300+ . If those are the correct weights for the BX23 and the BX2230 I believe they are for just the tractor unit itself. The BX23 has a substantial amount of added frame bracing for the backhoe and it has the grille guard which I am sure adds 50+ pounds alone.

I think you're correct, Jim. The additional 230 lbs. on the BX22 is from the additional framing/bracing for the backhoe, as well as the foldable ROPS. The 1520 lbs. is for the tractor only -- no BH or FEL.

Something is wrong with the BX2200 specs.
Even now, the Kubota web site lists a BX2230 with ROPS at 1290
and a B2910 with ROPS at 1763

On the occasions when I have picked up my 2200, I don't think it was over 1300!!

I bet it is the power of those darn computers again...probably a reuse of a filled in COO for another tractor, and after getting a cup of coffee, the person doing the job probably forgot to change all the numbers... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Anyone have a COO for a BX2200 that shows different (and correct) weights?

I just got home from work and pulled out my factory service manual and owners manual and here is what it says for weights on the BX23:

BT600 backhoe weight without bucket = 578 pounds
10" bucket weight (owners manual) = 37 pounds
12" bucket weight (owners manual) = 40 pounds
LA210 loader weight (approx) = 430 pounds (not sure if this is with or without the bucket - the bucket alone is listed as 132 pounds)
BX23 tractor weight with ROPS = 1520 pounds.

The tractor weight is listed on the specifications page where only tractor unit specs are listed so I am pretty sure this is the weight for just the tractor unit itself.

So if I add up all these weights using the 12" backhoe bucket and assuming that the 430 pound weight listed for the FEL includes the bucket I come up with:

578 + 40 + 430 + 1520 = 2568 pounds

I know from looking at both the BX23 and the BX2230 on a dealers lot that there is substantially more frame reinforcing on the BX23 than there is on the BX2230 to support the backhoe. All that extra reinforcing could easily add 230 or so pounds to the tractor unit on the BX23 as compared to the BX2230.
