My 2710 headlights are the stock 27W type. I have been reading on the message board that there are brighter bulbs available from Autozone. But they have changed their supplier of the bulbs. They were called Night Blaster, stock number 702 (35W) and 701 (50W). They are now Pro Series from Optronics. I don't think that they carry the 35W version anymore but I bought the 50W version. They are now stock number A-701, and are $2.99 each. They are located with the Halogen replacement bulbs in the store, not in the general bulb section. I installed them and it made quite a difference.

This is interesting. I haven't used my new 2910 but once in the dark and the headlights were about as I expected. Was waiting to try them on a dark winter's night plowing snow but it was almost 50 degrees in sunny upstate New York today and heading for sixty later in the week. Still no snow and no idea what, if anything, I need for additional lighting. I have not paid much attention to the Kubota lamps, but it sounds as though these others might work in my model. I am going to run out and look at them in a moment, but seems to me they are a sealed beam. If not, will these higher intensity lamps generate more heat and damage the outer reflector on the machine? The cost seems minor for such an increase in lumens, I had planned on purchasing more if needed for safety's sake anyhow.

Your 2910 is the same as my 2710 as far as the lights are concerned. The old bulbs are a 1073 from Kubota. The lights are NOT sealed and the base socket can be twisted around 30 degrees and then pulled out. I have seen that other people have put in the 50 Watt bulbs and it uses just inder 8.5 amps if I remember correctly. The headlights are protected by a 10 Amp fuse so this just makes it under the limit. These bulbs are a direct replacement as far as the socket is concerned. I think the original 1073's are rated at 23 W. These were worth the effort and others who have done this in the past have reported that the bulbs don't produce enough heat to cause any problems with the lens assembly melting....

My mistake, I must have been thinking of my old 7100.Definately the halogen bulb and socket type. Still a bit concerned with the heat factor. Has anyone had experience with this 50w replacement in a 2910? Thanks!

...it was almost 50 degrees in sunny upstate New York today...
Yes, it was absolutely gorgeous today... if this weather keeps up I may do a little bush hogging later this week... {even with the snow on the ground...} Most H3 lens fixtures that come with 27.5 and 35 watt lamps shouldn't have any problem with a 55 watt unit... but those new 110 watt units may melt that lens or distort it and render it useless... |
