Measured the 91 inch circumference right below the branches. Tree has been dead for about a year, the bark is starting to fall off.

Extended the boom, breaking the roots.

Lifted and pushed it back, then knocked off as much dirt as possible.

Found the balance point and took it to the burn pile, on the stump bucket.

That shot from behind where you found the balance point reminds me of an ant hauling off a dead grasshopper.... something 5 times its size.

Looks like fun!

Impressive balancing skills indeed. I would have been tempted to go get the grapple back on after digging up the roots.

I guess a narrow, no lid grapple did the trick here! :D

I'm seeing 6-7 cuts with the chainsaw and just as many trips with my little PT425. :D

And the stump would have stayed where it was, too!

Yep, took three attempts to balance it. I started too far away from the root ball.

I have carried a lot of smaller trees on the stump bucket and never had one fall off. It helps that the front axle is bolted to the frame and the rear axle pivots.

Even with the narrow 44" grapple, I balance the tree and leave the lid open.
