I recently acquired an old lawn roller that was home made. It was made out of an old, round gas tank. On top it has a place to put weight. There is no way to add water. I'd rather be able to fill it with water instead of trying to find a bunch of weight to put on top of it. My question is, what do I need to put a hole in it to fill it with water and then plug the hole? Sorry for the stupid question. Thanks!

Torch a small hole and weld a big nut over it. Use the bolt as the filler/drain plug. Probably want a good sized nut you can run a garden hose thru.

That's a good idea! I hadn't thought of that. Now I just gotta find someone with a torch and welder.

Great idea.
How about welding a pipe coupling with a threaded plug. Might be a better seal.
