Cogon creeping in
I've got an ever growing patch of cogon grass in the field ahead of my house. I've tried a few things already and it didn't do anything. It's starting to creep into my yard and I'd rather not mow it. My grandpa killed a patch at his place last year, but he tried so much stuff he doesn't know what did it in.
Does anyone have some knowledge on this matter? Do not burn it!! It liked that. I was hoping some rabbits would come out but I don't think anything can live in it.

Re: Cogon creeping in
It looks like frequent tillage and/or applications of glyphosate would be required.

Good luck.

Good read. I may just wait until this fall when it dries and burn it off. Then disk and till it religiously. Put some ryegrass over it and then come spring, spray what comes back and hopefully kill it.

Re: Cogon creeping in
That is a good informational read. I have read that cogon grass creaping into SC. The interesting thing I did not know was how hard it is to kill...even with gly!

Yes -- here's a map showing its reported distribution: Cogongrass Distribution - Southern United States.
