So if any of your remember my other thread turning weeds to grass I am finally going to start this fall.

I have sprayed one application of 24D, I am getting a 5 section harrow for $20.00 and I plan to run the harrow around my weed/grass filled 4 acre property to rough it up a bit so the grass seed has a place to sit over winter and come time spring the snow melt will aid in wetting the seed.

My question is will the harrow break up the yard to much or just right? how much should i rough it up?

You do not want more than a slight dirt cover over grass seeds, so not too rough.

Where is "Mb?"

Should work fine. Rolling it after seeding would help set the seed a little better and keep it in place. What you are talking about is "dormant seeding", leaving it over winter. I think this will work OK if you have a consistent cold winter. It would worry me if your temperatures bounce around a lot over winter.

MB is Canada. My winter is -40 degrees celcius with 2-4' of snow cover all winter.

Okay so just rough it up a bit maybe 2 passes one each direction?
