Default Brinly lawn sweeper 42"

Anyone used a Brinly 42" lawn sweeper? I'm thinkin' on getting one in the spring when mowin' starts again. I'm hoping they'll pickup leaves? I was especially curious as to how long the fabric on the basket last? The only review that I found said he like Brinly better that the Agrifab because the basket went away on the Agrifab pretty fast. bjr

I have a couple of Parker sweepers that are 30 plus years old. The fabric on mine has a couple of duct tape patches, but it has been 30 years. Best advise I can give is to store them out of sunlight to avoid UV degredation. They will pick up leaves, small sticks, dog poop, and anything else loose in the lawn

No experience with the Brinly sweeper, but have been using a 46" Agrifab for a couple years. Yes, the hopper fabric, or more specifically the seams in the fabric, do seem the weakest link. I'd suspect that 5-6 years might be the lifespan of the hopper. Mechanically it seems very reliable, and it does a great job clearing a large lawn of grass clippings and leaves. A replacement hopper can be ordered from the Agrifab web site for $65 plus shipping.

I have the Brinly....when compared next to the Agri-fab at Farm n Fleet, it appeared to be of better quality. I also bought it becuase it is the only fold up sweeper I could find which greatly helps in storage. Also, I opted for the accessory thatch attachment that works very well. I noticed at the John Deere Dealer one day that the JD lawn sweeper is virtually identical to mine except it has some pricey green paint on it. Either Brinly make a fine unit or they bid the lowest price for Deere to offer it.

It works very well. It has a higher tip velocity (more revolutions of the brushes per foot) then some other brands. In addition to picking up grass leaves, and pinecones, it does a heck of a job of picking up pine needles and twigs. if you alternate directions, it will give the lawn a nice striped look.

My only complaint is that the guage of the sheet metal is a little light...I have a few landscaping bricks and small stumps that stick up just a hair too far and I have bashed up the sweeper housing....I've been able to beat it back into shape to keep working, but I wish it was a little tougher.

The basket fabric holds up well, except where the dang mice chewed holes in it!!!!!! ARGH! let me tell you it made me sick to see those chew holes right after the first winter of storing this $300 implement.
