I recently bought my G3038 and started putting the FEL to use right away. I thought the curl was a little weak, but not always so I figured it was just user error and I'd figure it out later. I thought that maybe it needed to be bled so I started to cycle through the curl/dump function and realized that when I would dump, it would get most of the way down, then it was just like the hydraulics would release, kind of like float, the bucket would just hang. If I tried to continue the dump past vertical while it was just hanging there like that, it would not move and if I would try to curl it would take a couple of seconds to start the curl function. Now if I would curl it part way back up then dump, it would behave as expected and dump with power all the way. It's not a random event and I can reproduce this the same way every time. So I'm wondering if this is a "feature" or a problem. I can't imagine it would be an intended function. I hope its an easy fix as my dealer is over an hour away. There is one closer, but when I was shopping around, they didn't sell trailers and offered me a deal that was thousands more than I paid and they were kind of trash talking the other dealerships. Any advice/help is very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Kyle

My loader will behave the same way with the exception that once I cycle it fully several times, it will fully dump as I would expect it to. It's almost as if there is an air pocket in there somewhere that needs to get worked out before it will function normally. Aggravating, but so far not a big enough problem for me to do anything about it.

Mine is doing the same thing. I talked to the dealer this morning and they told me to take it in and they would check it out Monday.

Far as I know, it's common. If I've read of a fix, I've forgotten it. If there is a fix, I would certainly be interested.

My 4041 does it too, I have to cycle it again and then it's ok!

Guys, I certainly appreciate the feedback and I'm glad it's not just me. I would have called today but I'm a Army reservist and this is a drill weekend for me so I couldn't call today. I hope they can just tell me how to fix it so I don't have to drive an hour, drop it off, drive an hour back then do it over again when it's resolved.

Are you trying to do a power dump or a regen/fast dump?

When the bucket is dropping faster than fluid can fill the cyl, you will have some flop, slop, hesitation, or delay.

Regen fills the cyl faster and is supposed to eliminate the problem.

JJ --- not sure what the answer to your question is??? I think we're just trying to fully dump at the most rapid rate the valve will allow. Something tells me that this valve doesn't have "regen"???

J.J.,
If you hold the lever in the dump position, it will dump so far, then just flop. If you leave the the lever in that position, it never catches up and pushes the cyl/bucket the rest of the way back. If you then, move it to the curl position, it takes it s few seconds to grab hold then it curls up and if you go to dump again, it seems to work properly being controlled and under power through the whole dump cycle.

I am not sure what you guys are doing but my P7010 will kinda flop at one point just before the bucket lip starts to be pushed beyond vertical if I dump the bucket especially if the engine is at low idle. It seems it takes a couple of seconds for the pump to catch up and fill the cylinder before it continues to travel to full dump mode. It will dump fully though without cycling it. I think is it just that the bucket falls faster than the pump can supply oil behind the cylinder. It is not that noticeable when the engine is revved up or if you dump slowly.
