I know folks who own tractors who don't own computers. I agree the internet is a good place to shop but not everyone has a computer. The MSRP would give everyone at least a common starting point when buying. Actually what is wrong with listing the MSRP anyway? Don

I will make (2) quick comments: The MSRP that I found on the Mahindra site about a year and a half ago was the imputeous that found me owning one. The information here (TBN) as well as other sources was the supporting factor. I had never heard of Mahindra before they became a supporting sponsor of the World of Outlaws sprint car racing series and I decided to check them out. I was perfectly happy with my ol' 9N before this happened.
Secondly the dealers are the best resource on this forum as well as the Mahindra support from Texas. They are super helpful and informative amswering questions and making contributions that are not available from us "civilians". |

Would a dealer please answer this question.
Why were Maroney labels first but on vehicles? A Maroney label (sticker) and the MSRP are the same thing. Don

I see the MSRP as an initial in with the potential tractor buyer. Example the first place folks start is on the internet comparing MSRPs. If I know going in the MSRP gap on a comparable Deere is 5k higher I am much more likely to really check out the Mahindra. If I don't know and the Deere dealer runs his deal by me I may own a Deere before I realize I could have bought a Mahindra much cheaper. This especially applies to areas where there isn't a close Mahindra dealer. See some folks are just plain lazy and don't want to investigate the best deal. Yet others work odd shifts with few days off and stay very busy which makes it difficult to get out there and compare at good times. Mahindra and the dealers are free to do as they wish I just know if I wanted to become the worlds largest tractor manufacturer I would ceratinly be telling people my tractors are less expensive than some of the others.

Just a note of reference : If they don't have computers - posting the MSRP on the Internet won't help them. For me knowing MSRP is just to know if purchasing an item is even in the realm of possibility. For cars, I have never paid more than $400 over invoice, simply because I know dealers get additional incentives from the manufacturer to move a vehicle early...they're still making their money. Everyone needs to put food on their table and make a living so I don't need a certain $ or % off of MSRP to be content and a good dealer who is willing to actually help put you in the right vehicle or assist with accessories or is actually just friendly is worth paying a premium. I started researching tractors a few months back and called a few dealers - even some from this list. We are currently building a house and when it is complete and the time comes to purchase a tractor I have already decided I will go to Wallace simply because whomever I spoke to took a few moments of his day to talk to me on the phone when some others took the attitude that they couldn't be bothered. All were priced in the same range, most are in the same driving distance. If the others were like that before the sale, how will they be after the sale? |

My only fear to list price as a dealer is.... We as dealers do not get a big enough discount off of list price to show the customer they are getting a good deal.
Some of the other big manufactures inflate their list prices to allow the dealer to show the customers a bigger savings.. I am not trying to defend the MSRP being list on the www I am just trying to get some ideas on why people think it is so important to see the msrp. Rick

It is much quicker to find a manufacturer's web site to find the MSRP than travel to three dealers to try and verify the list price, don't ya know? ![]() |

It wouldn't be and wasn't, of any value to me. I went to look at the actual tractors and find out the actual sell price. I based my purchase on that. if every dealer sold at MSRP across all brands or if all had the same discount, that you could apply to figure actual cost, it might have been a factor. I also shopped in a small radius, rather than looking at the net and e-mailing dealers across the region.

I'm currently shopping around for a new tractor, the cab 4510 looks like a nice match, but not having a baseline is frustrating. Knowing roughly what the asking price is makes shopping easier.
It's the same with vehicles, if a car dealer won't publish their prices it is a red flag for me. Tells me that they are trying to get you in the door to shmooze you before they actually spring their "deals" on you. BTW, Mahindra's site still doesn't list the MSRP, at least on the cab models. Also, quick question at the risk of jumping off-topic, any plans for other cab models? I'd prefer a 55 hp or so, but a good friend has the 45 cab and thats why I am looking. He's happy with his and it looks like it may replace my Kubota 4150 nicely.

I like the poster I quoted above question why the MSRP is hid. I assume it is so high you need me face to face so you can sell me or you are trying to pull something. I don't sell tractors but if I did I would want the MSRP listed. Don
