Mahindra Co. stability

Hey guys,
In the market for a new slightly bigger tractor 35 to 45 hp. Currently own a Kubota DT245. Have been looking around and really like the new 35 series Mahindra. I have a dealer about 10 miles from me and he swears by them. My concern is how stable is the company? Are they going to be around ( in the US) in the next 10 years? How about resale?

The cost difference between the 45hp Mahindra ($23,000)and the Grand L3940 ($25,000) is only about $2,000. With loaders

your best way to answer that question is to start digging around online and find the financials of the company and what they are saying about the American market. Mahindra as a company will be around, if they stay in the US would be the question. You'd also want to look at the viability and stability of Mitsubishi, TYM, or whatever company is building the model you are looking at. You won't get a straight answer from a message board filled with dealers (like me) and people who already own a Mahindra.

My comment to this is....Did we every think GM, Ford, Dodge, Cat, John Deere, etc.. would be where they are today.

The difference is those companies didn't start out in an already saturated market. I'm not big on the Mahindra Ag tractors, I've just read about a several major problems hear on TBN considering the number of units that are sold, but I do like the compacts and think they are great. The Mahindra will weigh more than the Kubota. The Grand L will have all the bells and whistles. If you are worried about that $2,000 difference, you will probably make that up in resale value as soon as you take it off the lot.

Of course most Mahindra owners will say they love their tractor, as will the Kubota guys. Buy what you think fits your needs the best and take everything into consideration.

I think MahindraUSA is here to stay in the US, just like its parent company will remain in India and other parts of the world. Take a look at Mahindra's history you'll see that it isn't a newcomer to the game. Remember the Jeep from WWII? Also, while not completely decoupled from the rest of the world's economy, India's growth has slipped from 9% to 5%* which is an enviable place to be right now. (much better than negative growth aka recession)

Also, with MahindraUSA's headquarters in Tomball, TX I'd be willing to guess you'd always have dealers within range. Good luck on your search.

JD makes much more money but Mahindra makes more tractors than JD.

Just my opinion here, I believe that Mahindra will be here through thick and thin. So just how much do you like the Mahindra? Does everything feel like it is in the right place for you? How about the Kubota, how does it feel? If it were me, I would be most concerned about how comfortable each tractor is. When you sit on the tractor all day, you want it to feel right, not having to fumble around trying to get to the controls. What feels right for one person may be wrong for another. As far as the $2000 price difference, that is less than 10%, go with the tractor that feels best to you, you will be happier in the long run.

I don't know about the stability, but just in the length of warranty could be your $2,000.00 savings or more. Our 6025 was two months out of warranty and cost $2250.00 to fix and then we had to pay for a rental tractor because the Mahindra dealers are so small that they can't get it fixed quickly.

Overall the Deere would have be cheaper for us.

test drive them both to see which one feels better to you.
either machine should be able to do what you want it to.
(personally, more HP for less $$ sounds good, but then my local orange dealer treated me like he didn't want my business and the red dealer 165 miles away did, so you can guess which way I chose)

If you have a TYM dealer in your area you could check them to as they made a lot of Mahindra's tractors. They also have a longer warranty. In the end get what you like and fits you the best. You will likely own the tractor many years so the resale should be lower on the list as things can change a lot over 20 years.
