Model 5520 Availability at local dealers?

Kerry, you really need to see a 20 series, these tractors are great, especially for what they cost. I would strongly consider a 20 series over a 35 series if I were in your circumstances. They are a much more capable machine.

I would love to...if I can find one. The dealers here claim they can order one...but I just want to sit on one and test drive it. I'm certainly not buying a tractor sight unseen.

That was the purpose in posting this thread...to see where a 5520 might be within driving distance.

The new tractor will get a new brush hog. I was looking at a 7 ft but was assured by the dealer the 4535 can pull an 8ft pull behind.

However, I have also been looking at a 5540 Kubota...Thats a nice tractor! It has hydraulic PTO instead of electric over hydraulic. It has probably the most ergonomically friendly operator station of any tractor I have looked at. Everything seems to be in an ideal location with nearly all controls on the right side...which I like. The Hydro shuttle trans with multi disc wet clutch is an improvement over the Syncro Shuttle on the Mahindra. Fueling from the ground is a plus. The only problem...the cheapest of six Kubota quotes was still $6,000 higher than the Mahindra 4535 and $4350 higher than the 5035.
I could have bought a new Montana 57 HP U5784C with CAB...for less than the open platform Kubota....But that is one sweet tractor that looks like it is well designed and durable. Unfortunately...it's just too rich for my pocketbook. The bad thing is the Kubota dealer is only 28 miles from my farm with another only 45 miles away. The nearest Mahindra dealer is 80 miles but the only dealer with a 4535 to sell is 198 miles away...

Have you asked about 6520's and 7520's and the 60 series machines. They are all basically the same machine. If you were to find one of these to look at, it would give you a pretty good idea of how a 5520 would be.

Not really. I've pretty much decided on the 4535 but the dealer quoted a price for a 4535 that already had twin rear remotes installed. Then he wanted to charge extra for the "optional" two remotes alread installed. When I pointed out that the new specs for the 4535 and 5035 include a rear remote as standard equipment. He backed off and is now tring to charge $550 for the second valve. I told him he can take it off. He said the price remains the same with or without the extra valve. Either I pay for the valve and it stays on the tractor...or I pay for the valve and it comes off the tractor. Either way I pay an additional $550 over the original quote. I am now about to tell him he just lost a tractor sale...and so I am looking at other alternatives.

I don't blame you i'd take my business elsewhere if hes going make a deal over $550 especially in this economy. Another mahindra dealer perhaps. Your going have to deal with this guy for some time after the sale.

Update...

I received an email tonight and the dealer has agreed to reduce the price by $550 if the second valve is removed. But if I want the second valve...and I do...the price goes back up by $550. He indicates this is his cost for the valve and in checking Mahindra parts.com it looks like he's right. It also appears there is some issue between the dealer and the regional rep as to who is going to pay for the second remote that was installed by Mahindra for demo. Looks like the finger is pointing at me....

The other point worth mentioning is that there are no other Mahindra dealers in Missouri that have a Model 4535....

The last point is that the dealer has already dropped the price over 16% below MSRP. Thats a pretty slim margin if dealer cost is 20% off and he has to pay delivery freight. He may get an end of year kickback from Mahindra...but I'm not certain of that as he is not the largest Mahindra dealer around.

In any event...I'm still working with him.

We came to terms this morning. Total for tractor with ML130 FEL with 75" skid steer bucket and one rear remote was $23,050. This was a little over 16% off MSRP of $27480.

I then added the second rear remote for $550, a brush guard for $200 and a set of 2800 lb 42" MDS front forks for the skid steer bucket for an extra $725. That brought the final total to $24,525 delivered.

The Mahindra 35 Series Fu is simply a play on words to the often used martial arts reference of "your Kung Fu is strong"... indicating an accomplished or high performing skill level. A complement to the Mahindra 35 Series....

The dealer is selling the tractor for cost. So please tell me, if you owned a dealership, in any economy, would selling a tractor for 550.00 less than it cost you to buy it make any business sense whatsoever. Even Ebonics business math says that doesnt work. This is the raw definition of business. Sell something for more than you paid for it.....and do it as many times as possible. This is the definition of bankruptsy......sell for less than cost then lay people off and find something else to do....... True of ANY economy.

The year end bonus IF you reach it is 1% or $230 +or- on this sale and that doesn’t even cover one mechanics salary and benefits for even one day.
