Model 5520 Availability at local dealers?

Has anyone seen any model 5520 Mahindra tractors at their local dealer?
They seem to be exceptionally hard to find.

Has anyone seen one with the R4 industrial tires or are they all R1 ag tires?

Have you looked at or seen any of the 20 series tractors? The 6520 & 7520 are basically the same as the 5520, and R4s are available on all of the 20 series. My guess is that most people that want a tractor of this size prefer to have the extra HP.

Good luck in your search, maybe look for a good used 7520.

The 3 point on the 6520 and 7520 are both category II only.

The 5520 is both Cat I and II.
But the extra HP would be nice...if they were just Cat I and II.

Are they Cat 1-2 because of the 4 holed type balls in the arms and top link? It is no problem to insert sleeves in the cat 2 balls for cat 1 implements. Trust me though, you do not want to plan on using cat 1 ground engaging implements on a regular basis with any tractor that weighs as much as these machines weigh. The cat 1 implements will become a twisted, mangled mess in short order.

I have used the sleeves too many times and they are constantly getting lost even with extras on hand. Between the sleeves and the lynch pins they turn into more trouble than they are worth. I don't like dealing with loose hardware in tall weeds or mud. Thats why I prefer the balls with both the 7/8 and 1.125" holes. It's simple and works without need of extra "pieces". Especially when its cold and your working with gloves.

No...there is no intention of using any cat 1 ground working equipment. This is for switching between implements on multiple tractors. The implements include a 5' finish mower, rock rake, box blade, 3 pt lift platform, a spring harrow, three point pallet forks, bale spike, and a 5' bush hog.
No plows, rippers or disc's.

I guess that I'm not understanding the working with loose stuff in the weeds. Shouldn't you be already hooked up before you get into the weeds?
Do you have all cat 1 implements now, or a mix of I & II? If your box blade is cat 1, good luck with it holding up, hope that it is at least heavy duty. If you have all cat 1 implements, then there are sleeves-spring bushing that you can press into the cat 2 balls and those will not fall out.

Have you seen any of the 20 series in person?

I've got 301 ac which is actually two old farms that adjoin. All the barns and sheds are long gone. I am bounded on three side by Mark Twain Nat. Forest. The implements are split between two locations 1/4 mile apart and most are sitting in knee high grass as a result of mowing around them. There is very little room under roof and that is taken by the tractors. The implements sit out where I have no choice but to hook up "in the weeds"... I also have an old HD6 High Lift that sits out in the weather and if I had any additional dry storage, it would be under roof and not the implements.

The only two cat II implement's I've got are a 5 cu yd pull behind earth mover that I've used behind a Case 120 hp 4WD and a 10' land leveler I pull with a White 2-105 2WD. All the cat I implements have been used with an 8N. Until I can buy some newer implements, some of these...but not all... will be used with the new tractor. The 5' box blade will remain with the 8N but I do intend to use the 10' land leveler with the new tractor and the 5' bush hog until I can buy a larger one. I have been retired almost seven years and have to be selective with funds for new equipment.

No...I have not seen the 20 series in person, but it has some very good features. I like the ability to fuel from the ground, the high mounted headlights and the manual PTO engagement. In all honesty I was inquiring about it as an afterthought since the dealer and I are very close to closing on the 4535. My thought... should the 4535 fall through... was that the 5520 looked like an excellent second choice. I just can't find one locally to inspect, and would like to do so before committing to the 4535.

Do you now better understand my situation..?

Qwenslee, thank you very much for the explanation. Yes, it helps to know the circumstances that one is dealing with. The 4535 is a very nice tractor, I have only seen the 4035 though. Is the 4535 on the dealers lot? I think that you would be much happier with the 5520 though, and for only a few $$$$ more, it is a much more capable tractor. All the specs are substantially higher I believe. The 20 series tractors are a great series of tractors, although I am very biased towards them for obvious reasons.

Especially the Blue ones! I never have seen a 5520. My fuel tank filler neck is left and aft of the seat. I rest the can on the fender cross brace.

You never have stated (I think) if you want 2WD or 4WD? The 5520 is about 77 inches wide. You gonna pull those 5 foot mowers with it? My old Ford 3055 had cat II lower arms and a cat I top link. I changed all the pins on my old JD brush hog and box blade to cat II pins so I didn't need bushings. My 6520's top link has cat I and cat II holes in the top link.

Only 4WD...I will never buy another 2WD tractor for any serious work.

The new tractor will get a new brush hog. I was looking at a 7 ft but was assured by the dealer the 4535 can pull an 8ft pull behind.

The problem is I still use the implements with the 8n so I have to keep the cat I pins. With the 4535 its not an issue as it remains cat I however on the 5520 I would have to use the bushings.

However, I have also been looking at a 5540 Kubota...Thats a nice tractor! It has hydraulic PTO instead of electric over hydraulic. It has probably the most ergonomically friendly operator station of any tractor I have looked at. Everything seems to be in an ideal location with nearly all controls on the right side...which I like. The Hydro shuttle trans with multi disc wet clutch is an improvement over the Syncro Shuttle on the Mahindra. Fueling from the ground is a plus. The only problem...the cheapest of six Kubota quotes was still $6,000 higher than the Mahindra 4535 and $4350 higher than the 5035.
I could have bought a new Montana 57 HP U5784C with CAB...for less than the open platform Kubota....But that is one sweet tractor that looks like it is well designed and durable. Unfortunately...it's just too rich for my pocketbook. The bad thing is the Kubota dealer is only 28 miles from my farm with another only 45 miles away. The nearest Mahindra dealer is 80 miles but the only dealer with a 4535 to sell is 198 miles away...
