Default Going to look at a Mahindra tomorrow. PRICE CHECK PLEASE :)

I'm going to look at Mahindra as I hear a lot of good things about them. I have 4 acres and need something with 4wd and a loader. I don't *NEED* Hydro. I was first considering a Kubota or Deere in the 30hp range but that might be above my budget.

Found a dealer with this deal....

2009 2516 gear tractor with loader for $14,115 and 0% interest for 48 months.

I'm thinking I could go with the lower HP and get the gear tractor to compensate.

What size bushhog will this unit run? I need to cut down some small saplings in the 2" range to clear around my planted loblolly pines and clear my powerline right of way that is nothing but tall weeds....

Thanks!

A 4' rotary cutter will run fine and a 5' would probably be ok if you are on fairly level ground.

Price seems to be reasonable.

No doubt a nice machine you're considering there.
You can, however, buy a Kubota B2320, gear, FEL for that money. And likely less. "Build My Kubota" on their website post for that same money and that is LIST. Deduct 8-10% in the real world and you are in the 13K range. Zero financing too.

OK, it is a 23 hp, but just sayin' Don't think it wise to always assume a Kubota or a Deere for that matter are "over priced" until you find out. I'd get a couple quotes from some other colors too.
Happy hunting!

Kubota makes a fine tractor no doubt. However, the 2516 is quite a bit more tractor than the B2320. Almost 300 lbs more FEL capacity. 900lbs more 3 point lift capacity, 400lbs heavier, and the 2516 actually uses the same engine that the larger frame 28 horse power Mahindra uses. Dave, of Dave's Tractor has dyno'd them and can confirm they are more than 24 hp. The 2516 is a lot of tractor for its size.
It will run a 5' bushog and take out saplings. I've even used my neighbors 6' tiller and it did OK with it. Drive a bunch of 23-25 hp tractors if thats what you are interested in. You may like another one better but its hard to find more tractor for the money IMO.

Thx. I think I might have a deal with a forum member on a new tractor. I'll advise in the next few days
