Tractor
Looking Still
I am new to this forum and looking at a couple of Mahindra tractors. The 2816 and 3316 tractors. The 2816 is in my price range but when comparing the two the 3316 has additional framework from the loader frame to the rear end housing that the 2816 is missing. Is there a support kit that needs to be added to the 2816. It just looks weaker than the 3316. Has anyone had any problems. I just scared to spend that kind of money and not be aware of anything I should have ask before my purchase. Thanks Sarge1956

I have never paid any attention to 3316 FEL but I do have a 2615 (same loader used on the 2816 and essentially the same tractor). I have 400 hours on the tractor and have not had any problems with the FEL. A friend has a 2816 and has not had any problems. The Mitsubishi made Mahindras are great little tractors.

The 2816 frame has been around for what seems to be a million years!
It was the old 2615 and also was the same frame as the 3015.
A VERY proven machine.
You cant really compare the 2 as the 33 has a heavier lifting capacity and quick attach bucket option.
The 33 is also equipped with a shuttle trans virses a straight gear on the 28.
The 33 has a independent PTO where the 28 is a live pto with a 2 stage clutch.

I would classifiy the 2816 as a well built economy tractor.

Thanks for your input on this. It will help in my choice. I am about 21 days from retirement and looking forward to Hobby farming to pass the time. I have a dealer thats pretty close to my home and I used to work for them in the 70's. Now its just trying to get the best deal on the tractor and some implements. Thanks again Sarge1956

Hi Sarge 1956,
I am the proud and happy owner of a 2810, almost the same model as you
are looking at, and i found a ML106 loader and installed it myself. It was an easy job and I was very happy with Mahindra and KMW compatibility! My loader has a tie in to incorporate front and rear as one unit. I have owned several tractors with BIG loaders on the front and have never broke one in half! Reason being. . . a subframe which ties front and back together.
Please do your checkbook a favor and buy one the ties the whole machine together. its more expense to start but it will save you much aggravation in the long run.
The ML106 is a light loader, but. . . it can lift stuff a whole lot easier than i can pick it up. good luck . . .John

P.S DON'T FORGET TO GET THE QUICKTACH "TOOL BAR" it's a "Got to have" item! You can take the bucket off in about 2 seconds with no effort

jpm1, your 2810 is a TYM built tractor, whereas the 2816 and 3316 are built by Mitsubishi.

The 2816 also has greater lift capacity than the 2810. The 2810 is a discontinued model, and there is limited availability on the 2816, as I believe it is being discontinued, as well.

The 2816 has a convention type loader frame. I'll try to explain and then you can go back and look again. The main loader mount, mid-tractor, bolts to the bellhousing and really only has to hold the loader up or down, it does not have to handle much in the way of rotational forces because it has a welded yoke that goes forward to the front bumper area, and that front mount handles the rotational issues. It is a simple and strong system The 32/33, on the other hand, uses a pedestal type mount. That puts a bunch of torque on the main mount (no front yoke) as it dearly would like to rotate with a heavy load. Therefore that main mount must be very heavy and braced very well.

Hope this helps.
