Default 8560 Finally Ordered....I'm Fired Up!

Well, after doing research on new tractors for about a year now and nursing my old 401 JD along the last two years to the tune of about $4500+ in repairs, I finally bit the bullet and ordered a new 8560 4x4 two weeks ago.

I did a lot of reading the last 12 months and comparing and I could not see spending another $10K-$15K to own a tractor with green paint, especially when it seems as though the Mahindra will out work the other brands and is most certainly heavier built.

I ended up ordering it from Boehm in Shiner, TX because they beat everybody else on the price and just seemed like good, honest folks there when talking with them. I got it with a canopy, front hay spear, and the heavy duty forks for just a little over $32K which seems to be a pretty sweet deal when comparing other dealer's prices on this machine.

My cousin has the 6500 4x4 and is very, very happy with it to date after about 5 years owning it. He had a smaller Mahindra before it for about 10+ years and loved it as well. Everyone I've spoken to that owns one seems to have nothing but good to say about it and that had a lot to do with my final decision as well.

It should be delivered any day now and I'm like a 5 year old waiting for Christmas morning! LOL

Any opinions or advice any other owners can give would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Tim

Tim, I have the 8560's predecessor a 7520. These tractors are beasts. Lots of power and the weight to get that power to the ground. What all are you going to be doing with the new machine? Do you already have some implements to use with it?

Be sure to post pictures once you get it. We all like pictures here on TBN.

Don't be a stranger, not that many of us with the bigger tractors here although that looks to be changing some over the past year or so.

MVR, we have about 40 acres and it is mostly in coastal grass. I have about 20 acres or so that I can use for tillable, grain or hay production and might but most likely will leave it in coastal grass. So, in a nutshell my machine will mostly be used for mowing, hay production, and a lot of dirt moving with the loader. But, my uncle farms about 1600 acres or so and I will probably help him some with it at some time or another.

I do have a small disc, shredder, chisel plow, hay fork (3pt), and a bedding plow. All are way undersized for this machine which is good in a way as I believe in more HP then is needed as to never 'overwork' your machine. Sort of like my truck being a 3/4 duramax diesel as I don't need it all the time but it is surely nice when pulling a load of cows/calves to the sale. I think your equipment lasts longer when you don't put a lot of strain on it. I'm definately in the market now for a 10' bushog and a little bit bigger disc and chisel as well as a 8' pasture aerator. I also plan on putting up all new exterior fencing as well as redoing all my cross fences and a lot of the existing pipe pens on our place to make working cattle much easier so I'm already looking into buying a pipe/post driver for it. Dang, I am like a 5 year old kid at Christmas........just my toys are a bit more expensive! LOL

I will certainly post some pictures here when I get the new machine.

    Tim,
I think you did good with the price. My dealer quoted me $31,000 for the 8560 and loader on his lot. Brian (MVR) said it right.......these tractors are Beasts. I call my 6520 the Big RED Beast.

    Thank you very much.

My dealer called this morning and said he got confirmation from the factory rep that my tractor should be delivered to him today so he can get the canopy installed and then deliver it to me. Now I have to find a shredder as I let mine go with my old John Deere I sold. I was planning on purchasing either an 8' or 10' anyway as the one I had was a 6'. I have been looking at the Rhino and Bush Hog brands but dang they are expensive. The best I can find on a new BH 3008 is $4800. I have a chance to buy a used Big Bee 10' lift for just under $3k but I'm not sure about these shredders as I cannot find a whole lot of information on them. I have tried contacting their factory to try and get some more specs on them but have had no luck so far.

    ILUVBIGBUCKS,

Congrats on your new 8560 tractor.

Regarding shredders, I pull a 10' Mahindra/Kodiak with my 5530 turbo on the 60 acres i have to play with in the eastern paulose. With your 8560 a batwing 15' should be an easy pull especially if your planning on helping out on the 1600 acres. You may want to price the Kodiak and then check with your Mahindra dealer on their price for the same Mahindra branded unit.

Thanks idaho2, I will have my dealer check on the Mahindra stamped Kodiak shredders. I am probably going to stick to the 10', maybe even an 8' simply because a good bit of our place is pasture with big trees on it and I think staying with either the lift or semi-mount would be a better option, especially for my 13 year old son and wife to use. I logged alot of miles with a JD 2950 and 15' batwing mowing highways in the summers for my uncle while I was in high school. I love the flex wing shredders and got so good backing them that I could back them up along guard rails along slopes on bridges with my eyes closed! LOL

    ILUVBIGBUCKS,

The interesting part of larger mowers especially the pull types is they take less pto hp to operate! When i saw that during my research it became clear that was the way i was going. Glad I did, i only had my 20 acres plus my sons' 20, now it became a total 80 between the two of us. The other question I have are you getting a minimum of two sets remotes. With the size of your 8560 a third would be the prize ticket. Lots of options.

No doubt about it, pull types take less HP then the 3-point lift models. I am getting the standard 2 sets of remotes but can add a 3rd set if need be pretty inexpesively. There is no doubt the 8560 could handle a 15' batwing, even in very thick coastal bermuda down here. Just down shift a gear or two and I would think it would do great. I've always believed in more HP and less implement as to not 'work' the machine as hard. Heck, I can remember the good old days when my dad farmed 150 acres with a two row planter, and 6' plows and shredder, and a little 40 hp Massey ferguson! Of course it took him a full weekend just to disc that up!
