| HELP! 7520 Won't Start Looking for fix to my 7520. It had run fine 2 weeks ago but last week it wouldn't start. Starter would turn, white smoke from the stack, but wouldn't start. Had fuel (but found a bent fuel line which I will replace but fuel still flows), charged battery, cleaned air filter (it was dirty), changed front fuel filter (it looked ok though), primed the system (as best I could since the owner's manual doesn't explain). Also, sometimes it wouldn't even turn over (could have been weak battery) even after charging battery. Two Mahindra dealers in area have gone out of business and closest dealer about 80 miles. They said it would cost about $500 one way to transport the tractor (that is $1000 just to transport there and back!!!!!). I could have either a Massey Fergussen or Deere/Kubota dealer take a look--has to be cheaper than transporting to Mahindra dealer. Any good ideas on what I can replace/fix to get her running?? |

| Re: HELP! 7520 Won't Start Any tractor mechanic can work on a problem like this, just call a good local tractor mechanic, no matter the brand. I suspect some bad fuel, perhaps polluted with water or something. We are a Mahindra dealer, but we go out and work on all brands. We've had a bunch of rain lately and just last week got a call from a Kioti owner with the same problem. It sure wasn't the tractors fault, he had a couple quarts of water in the fuel tank. We drained, purged the lines and changed filters...and it was up and running in about an hour or so.

| Re: HELP! 7520 Won't Start I guess I can drain the fuel and try purging the lines then refuel and see if that works. When I drained some fuel out of the tank and the filters, I didn't notice any water though. |

| Re: HELP! 7520 Won't Start Water is real easy to see. Pour some of the fuel into a bowl or jar and if there is water in it, you will see it. If not, I'd crack the lines at the injectors up on the head and crank it a little and make sure you have good fuel and no air at the injectors. I assume you did not run it out of fuel?

| Re: HELP! 7520 Won't Start Mine did that. But it was after dieing while running. The cam gear had broken. I cant imagine yours doing it on startup, but your symptom of difficulty turning over is something that rings a bell. The cam gear acts as an idler between the crank and hyd pump -- it essentially drives the hyd pump. Have you been using the hydraulics hard? How many hours? Seems you should still be under warrantee. Call in a Mahindra service rep to come to your place and diagnose. P/M me if youd like to compare notes.

| Re: HELP! 7520 Won't Start Yes, it is still under warranty, only 2yrs 3mos old. I have talked to 2 Mahindra dealers about sending someone out. They aren't planning on doing that. I would also have to pay $69/hr, so just to get them here and back would be 3 hrs of work with no work done--better to get a local MF or Deere dealer mechanic if I can. That is better than paying $1000 to have someone come get it and return it to me (I don't have a way to transport). Tractor has 370 hrs and yes, i do use the hydraulics (front end loader mostly with root rake clearing land and yes backhoe as required).
I plan on draining fuel system (no did not run out of fuel) and refuel. Then check to see if fuel to injectors. If that doesn't work will see about getting a local mechanic.
Sure wish my dealer hadn't gone out of business. |

It is obvious that that particular Mahindra dealer doesn't want to even look at it. You should be able to get a private hauler to haul it for less than that. As Dave has said, any good tractor mechanic can take care of this if you are not able to resolve it.
Good luck

| Re: HELP! 7520 Won't Start My local MF dealer fixed it after several days of troubleshooting. One of the electrical relays was bad--prob about a $30 part. Bad news is that it took about 10 hrs labor to find problem and with transport fee the bill was over $900
Been working fine since. I would hope a Mahindra would have found prob quicker but since they are so far away, it would have cost about that much to transport. |
