I clean around the neck before removing the cap every time. The fuel container is made sure to be clean before I fill it. And I don't leave the cap off any longer than it takes to add fuel. Go figure...

With the problem I originally posted about, the tractor actually ran worse the hotter it got, not better.
If it is black and a little looking like plastic it could be the tank lining. Not sure on the 4530's but there was a small run of models where the lining on the tank came loose. Mahindra generally fixed all for us.

No, it was more brownish/greenish and appeared, as best I could tell, to be organic. I think it was just an accumulation of the fine grass particles that find their way into everything. The same stuff you get around your grease fittings (or at least I do).

For what it's worth I ran into this problem on my <50 hr 3525 and it was air on the suction side of the injector pump. I found that the water seperator hose connections are pressed in and they were not air tight. I took off the seperator and cleaned the area where the hose connections are with carb cleaner. I then used good ole JB weld to seal them up for good. Now it runs like a champ. If you see any air in your water seperators you have an air leak. Trust me it took me a while to figure this one out. I would run a while just fine then... just as in the first post here.
Good luck, hope this helps.
