Now What?

I have a 5525 which is about a year & 1/2 old (60 hours) and it has just started having dash problems. I sometimes have to knock on the face of the panel to get the temp or fuel needle to register. My tach reads normal most of the time but occasionally reads about 300 RPM higher than it is running? Sounds like this is common.

Just a thought here folks. Is it possible your instrument panels are not properly sealed from dust and moisture? Both of those contaminants can affect electronics.

Mine only had 26 hours on it. But it likely did sit out in the weather for month before I bought it. The new one was right out of the pakage so I don't know what going on there. But the dealer seams like they will take care of it.

New tractors sit on the dealer lot without any protection from the elements and the manual doesn't say that you need to store them in a garage. My opinion is that all tractors including instrument panels should be designed to live their entire life outdoors.

Talked with the dealer today and the rep is sending a new one from the factory that they tested to be working. It should be in Friday. I'll keep you all posted.

Also hand operated the PTO safety switch, then it just as suddenly decided it wanted to start again. Jim,
Follow your ground wire from the battery to where it is attached to the frame, engine block. Check this connection. I have seen and heard of quite a few people complaining of the same symptoms and it turned out to be a bad ground.
