I am at the 100 hr service point of my 3316. I am considering synthetic gear oil for the front differential. GL-4 is specified; most is rated GL-5.
GL-5 is generally considered fine as long as there is no yellow metal (brass, bronze, etc.). There is even debate regarding this; which I don't care to debate. I would rather be safe than sorry.
I would just like to know if there is any yellow metal in the front differential of my 3316; as I will steer clear of the GL-5 rated lubes.
I also know that it is common to simply use UTF in the front axle and recall reading that is the fill used at assembly in CA.
Thanks for helping if you know the answer to my question.
