Mahindra Diesel Fuel Recommendation
So I pulled into my local gas station the other day and bought 15 gallons of off-road diesel fuel. A day or so ago I was back out there and realized that the sticker on the pump said "High Sulfur" diesel. The sticker on my 2816 says low or ultra low diesel. How big of a problem is this? Should I cease using the High Sulfur diesel immediately or finish it out?
I would imagine that my 2816 does not have the emissions garbage on it since it is an older motor.
Any thoughts about this?2009 Mahindra 2816 Gear, 106 FEL, 3710 BH

Re: Mahindra Diesel Fuel Recommendation
I'd be surprised if that sticker was accurate, I thought all diesel was now ULSD.
If it truly is "high sulfur" and your tractor is older than 2007 I'm sure it's completely fine. If you're tractor is newer, I don't see it being a problem either, but I'm not an expert. If your tractor had a DPF on it, I'd be concerned, but since it doesn't have the emissions crap on it, I can't see it being an issue.Kubota Grand L 3940 HST-3 (2012)

Re: Mahindra Diesel Fuel Recommendation
The tractor is a 2009 model. I am like you, I thought the high sulfur diesel is a thing of the past. I asked the station manager about it and was told that it probably is an older sticker since it's an old tank.
The reason I buy my diesel from this place is they have a high turnover rate and they are 1 mile from my house.2009 Mahindra 2816 Gear, 106 FEL, 3710 BH

Re: Mahindra Diesel Fuel Recommendation
I did the same **** thing on a new Mahindra and it just flat would not run! Had to drain tank, filter bowls and fuel lines. Put correct fuel in and ran fine. Tractor new in 2010.

Re: Mahindra Diesel Fuel Recommendation
Just an old sticker... on road fuel is ultra low sulfur and off road is low sulfur.
IIRC ULSD is less than 15 ppm sulfur and LSD is less than 500 ppm sulfur.

3*Just an old sticker that never got changed.
4*Has been since 2010.
5*It' is.
6*Sounds like the case.
7*I wouldn't think they would have a high turn over rate of off road diesal since they aparently aren't a truck stop .
I'm surprised you found off road at a gas station because few gas stations even carry on road diesel
8*I wish my off road supplier was only a mile away .
9*I'd say you got hold of some contaminated fuel in your case as the sulfur content has nothing to do with your issue.

You can't get the wrong fuel when there is only 1 available.

Re: Mahindra Diesel Fuel Recommendation
I talked directly to our fuel distributor, and he said there is no choice here any more. The refinery had to switch over..ulsd.

Re: Mahindra Diesel Fuel Recommendation
1*I'd say.
2*That's correct.
*Off road is ULSD also cause they quit making low sulfur.
3*True,
4*That was before they quit making it back in 2010.
5*Nice to hear from somebody that knows what they are talking about for a change!
6*Happened 2 years ago but it's astonishing how long it takes for folks to catch onto something .

LBrown59,,,#6. Yes, I have been repeating it here now for a spell. This subject comes up about every 30 days or less..On this site...I Wonder what is the next big step after tier4...Everybody is going to flip over the new Exhaust devices?? Now the EPA is going to fine the company, if they have to use the back-up gen-sets??? What is a EMERGENCY, and no we would not run them if the Utility power was on??? Forget about Peak-shaving and back-back of surplus power..

Re: Mahindra Diesel Fuel Recommendation
No loss of power yet in my 2816 which leads me to believe that the sticker on the pump is old and wrong. Unless my tractor starts behaving weirdly, I am going to continue running this fuel during the summer months. I normally switch to the truck stop in the winter months.
During the summer months this store does have a high turnover in fuel. I watched a guy in some battle ship looking McCormick tractor pull in and fill up followed by a guy with a fuel tank in the bed of his truck. All the local farmers get fuel here as well. It may not be a turnover like a truck stop, but it is the closest place for me that carries off-road diesel and straight unleaded gasoline.2009 Mahindra 2816 Gear, 106 FEL, 3710 BH
