Mahindra Gas Gauge - which end is up?
I have a 4110 tractor, love it. My concern is how accurate the gas gauge is.
This unit has an 8 gallon tank, unfortunately mounted high behind the seat. Very trying to fill. When my gauge is close to empty and I put in 4 gallons (all I can lift and control), the needle will slowly move up to full as the tractor warms up. I did this yesterday and after 4 hours of tilling it was back on empty, I quit work and limped into the barn.
So my questions are:
Why does 4 gallons move the needle to full when on empty, seems like I am losing 4 gallons someplace?
Surely I couldn't burn 8 gallons of fuel during this time?
If there is 4 gallons still left, is it that the tank is not really empty? Or is it that I can have 4 more gallons actually above the full mark registered by the gauge?
This and the location of the Low range shifter is a little tight for my big left leg are the only complaints I can come up with for my baby.Mahindra 4110, FEL, Sun Screen, Bush Hog 84RDTH Finishing Mower, Howse 5 ft. brush hog, Yanmara 5 ft. tiller, PHD; Box Blade; 3pt. forks, Cub Cadet LT 1050, Polaris Sportsman 500, Beretta 92FS, Taurus Judge. Rickstir,
The plastic fuel tank could have collsaped if your tractor is a few years old. I had a couple that had that problem when the metal insert in the cap got turned upside down and would not vent. I think Mahindra changed the cap later on to prevent it. I've seen Kubota collsape also. Mine be worth checking out. The 4110 is a great tractor.

Tractor is two years old and always kept in the barn. I'll check the cap, thanks for that hint. I have had this problem from the get go. I agree, a great machine.

Re: Mahindra Gas Gauge - which end is up?
Seems like there is more fuel above the FULL mark. With the gauge showing half full I put in four gallons. Could finally see the fuel in the tank, guess it never was full
. Now that I know what's up, I can deal with it.

Rickstir,

I thought 4110s were diesel. Didn't know any ran on gas.
