Transfer Tank

I would have purchased a normal pickup tank. I used to carry a 110 gal "L" tank with a toolbox on top. Great combo and you don't have to run to the pumps all the time to get re-filled.

Thought bout buying one, but all the cheap ones are steel. At tractor supply a 50gal was $250. They did have 100gal on sale for $300, but I might not use all of it for 3+/- months. I dont want fuel sitting that long. Not to mention you still have to buy a pump and the cheapest is the one new is what I got for $125. I dont like the way the tanks are set up with the drain plugs either. The tool box combo is nice and looks great, but I like to be able to use the full 8' bed on my pick up.

Home Depot, Lowes both have a variety. Gotta read the labels real close to make sure it fits the application. I prefer to go to Ace Hardware- their "house brand" is usually less expensive.

All have to see how close there is an Ace Hardware to me.

By reviewing all the posts, it is evident that many members have a well thought out system. This is the system that I incorporated. My kubota L4400 has a 11.1 gallon tank. I bought a Duramax flo-n-go at TSC. It holds 14 gallon and I sprayed it yellow and put a "Diesel" sign on it because it was originally red in color. I built a set of steps with side rails a foot taller than the hood of my tractor. With my son-in-law's assistance, I place the tank on top of the steps and use the hose to fill the tank. It is fairly easy to fill the tank at the fuel pump and is portable with the use of the wheels. It stores away in the corner of the shed easy. Flo N' Go - Products

I took a piece of flat and wrapped around a piece of pipe bout the size of the tank to make the straps.

Update. Got a bit more done.

1st pic - trying to figure out pump placement.

2nd pic -you can see lifting points, nozzle holder, shelves, straps with part of turn buckles welded on, chains to hook to other end of turn buckles, brace for holding pipe with fuel filter mounting base, and some bad welds.

3rd pic - we got it grinded, wire wheeled, and primed right before storm came in.

We still need to finish painting and clean aluminum fuel tank before mounting. Also need to make sure we put something between aluminum tank and metal straps or the steel will rot out the aluminum if my memory serves me correct.

It is really the way to go. If you have a big truck salvage near you then you can end up with a tank that will not rust and have a larger or same fuel capacity for less money.
