Mahindra 5035HST mystery part

This part I discovered near my oil filter when I was doing my initial 50 hr service. Any ideas what it is? I haven't called my local dealer, they are pretty worthless.

It seems to have a little mahindra Red overspray on it. It is about 4-5 inches long. Looks like some sort of cover plate or a heat shield? Any thoughts?? Thanks, Matt

A similar part apears in the parts book as a heat shield possibly associated with the alternator? Maybe the alternator is mounted near the exhaust manifold? If it was only mounted with one bolt, as it appears, it would have snapped off soon if it hadn't fallen off. I have seen any number of fabricated shields and brackets such as this on 25 and 35 series tractors that crack or simply break off due to vibration.

Thanks Harry in KY. Ill take a closer look at the alternator!
