My 8560 just clicks when I turn the key. If I move the forward/reverse shifter on the column back and fourth or push down it a mystery switch will connect and it'll crank over. I haven't torn into it yet but was curious if anyone knew where the switch is that seems to be failing to connect?

also at the same time the tilt wheel adjustment just seems to have stopped working out of nowhere. I used to be able to push down on the pedal to release the lever, set the adjustment and release the lever and it would catch in place. Now the pedal seems to be bottomed out with no spring to it. Any clues?

The safety switch should be on the gear shifter instead of the shuttle. There is also one on the pto lever that can get stuck or go out of adjustment. As far as the tilt the small cylinder that raises and lifts it is either bent or froze up. Don't see it as much on that model but you have to be easy when stepping on it to avoid damage. These will be covered under your two year warranty if its still covered.

There are also a few other things that can cause the clicking like a relay or the starter switch but I would look at the safety switches first

I've always fiddled with the shifter and it worked. That may just be coincidence but I'll focus on the shifter now to see the connection, thanks for the advice. The Tilt cylinder is fine, the steering wheel moves back and fourth, it just doesn't lock into any position so it wants to stay all the way up thanks to the cylinder pushing it that direction. I need to figure out how to make it lock into a lower position.

Should just be the linkage then. take the side panels off and should be able to get to it pretty easy. Or even the dash.

1ShiftSwitch.jpgdal929,
This recently happened to me on my 2010 5035. The "sweet spot" on the shifter was increasingly harder to find and thus start the tractor. I fixed in in a couple minutes.

If your safety switch is like mine, look for it by crawling under the left side of your tractor to view. Have someone move the shift lever from forward to reverse while you look for it and it will be very easy to find.

The bronze colored nut in the pic has a "ball-bearing" push-switch in the center. This is the safety switch. In the picture, the dark gray nipple (shift linkage) is depressing the ball-switch. This is the neutral position necessary for starting.

Mine was barely contacting the ball-switch when I diagnosed it. I fixed it by putting the gear shift lever in neutral and then taking a flat tip screw driver and very slightly bending the tab that holds the ball-switch and nut towards the nipple on the shift linkage (depressing the switch). The pic is after I bent the tab.

Hope this helps.

Your 8560 starting circuit should be like my 6520. The 8560 is basically the Tier IV version of the 7520, the bigger brother to my 6520. Attached is the wiring diagram from my operator's manual. My 6520 has a PTO switch and a trans neutral switch, along with a optional seat switch. The tractor will start in forward, neutral or reverse on the F-R shuttle shifter. The "tarns neutral switch" labeled in the diagram is the switch on the speed shift lever. I guess they meant to say trans instead of tarns.

................Well, the file I attached is too large. So no diagram attached. If Mahindra moved the transmission neutral switch from the speed shift lever to your F-R shuttle shifter, it could just be a loose connection. My connector got ripped off before while brush hogging and it would start after lunch. A limb had ripped the connector off of the switch.

I am having the same issues right now with my 8560, it started slowly but has progressed to the point where I cannot start it now. I replaced the switch on the shifting lever and it didn't solve the problem, so now I am going to change the one for the PTO.

I have another question; I found (bought the tractor used) plug under the platform near the 4 wheel drive lever, and it has a jumper wire on it. any idea what that might be to?

My guess is the plug for trailer lights. I have a huge plug in that area, but it is covered and on a bracket.
Merry Christmas hugs, Brandi
