( IT SEEMS AS THOUGH YOU ARE PUSHING THE TYM PRODUCT.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH THEM? JUST KINDA CURIOUS I DONT HEAR ALL THAT MUCH ABOUT THEM. ) We just took delivery of one. There seems much to like with them except the hydraulic system. Lots of leaks and hoses uncliping. If they had only spent a few extra hours and about $100 at the factory we'd be out there touting how great they were instead we're busy fetching oil and clamps. |

Hey there Wallace
You are probably about pulling too large a cutter behind Mah 4110. In my case I tried the Woods to see what would happen. 8 ft Brush Bull specs call for 40 hp or better tractor. The Bull weighs 1289 lbs. The 6 ft one weighs in at 1039 only 150 lbs less weight than 8 ft. Of course a smaller hp tractor needed for 6 foot; 30 hp. I think water in front tires and some other weight on front would make the 4110 handle fine. When the cutter starts out it takes a while to wind up. Once it's moving, it's a cuttin son of a gun. The Mahindra rated at 41 hp. and the B Bull needs 40 hp. tractor seems like a border line match to me. Maybe not the best, but should be ok. My question, why would one have to worry about a broken pto shaft? Do you think that cutter would put that much of a strain on the tractor PTO? By the way, if I were buying a brush hog, I would go for 6 ft and maybe consider 7 ft. I do realize it's pushing it for 8 ft. It's just I have the Woods and it's almost new. Cheers......Coffeeman |

I always thought that too. Unless I don't understand term used in Woods operator's manual, specifications say:
Recommended Maximum Tractor HP 40-120. Although it states maximum HP I am gussing the 40 is mimimum. Just for info 72" is 35-120 and 60" is 30-120. Manual also states 20% of gross weight of equipment and tractor should rest on front wheels. I think tractor weighs about 5000 lbs and cutter at 1200. So I guess I need at least 1200 lbs on front wheels. If I had a loader I'd be in business. I have searched manual for a reference to PTO HP and can't find one. Only other thing is maybe I should assume that tractor HP means PTO HP. In that case I'm really out of luck. However, Mahindra seems like it would handle cutter well with more weight. Cheers......Coffeeman |
