Mahindra 5500 vs 3525

I've gotten prices of only 2000.00 difference between the 2 with fel. When you look at the specs from Mahindra, the 5500 and the 3525 have vitually the same lift and power capabilities, but the 5500 has 19 more HP. How can that be? Thanks, MP

Supply and demand....my 50 horse deere was the same price as the 40 horse. The salesman told me he sells 10 tractors 40 horse and under to every one that is 50 horse and over. That would be my best guess. The 5500 and the 3525 are godd tractors. You can go wrong with either. A buddy of mine, big Mahindra fan, has 400 acres and he has a 5500 4WD and a 3525 2WD. Both have some hours on them and have given him great service.

Can't speak for the 5500, but I'm pleased with my 3525 with FEL.

I don't know what to tell you about the 5500 - but I sure like what all my 3525 does for me. Has been great at pulling up some of the cedar trees we don't need.

Thanks guys, Any problems with 2WD and the fel? Everyone says 4WD is needed, but with the 3525 at 4400lbs, I'm thinking maybe not. I'm in a realitively flat area and don't really know what I will be doing with the FEL besides piling brush, but I have some ideas.

If you're on the flat the 2wd may be okay. I'm on some hilly stuff and the 4wd sure comes in handy. Just matters if you will be working in muddy conditions often or doing heavy pulls.

As long as you have something heavy on the back like a cutter, you should be ok with the FEL. My 3525 with FEL works much better with the cutter behind it to add the weight. My place is relatively flat and I haven't missed having the 4WD.

i have a 5400 2wd w fel and the only time i could have used 4wd so far was backing up a steep hill with a heavy load in the loader, i was digging out the shallow end of my pond. i completely satisfied with 2wd.
