New Tractor

Good evening gents. i have been a long time lurker heregaining all the info i can about tractoring. i have been talking with my dealer and i am ordering my first tractor on monday. i will be ordering a 4110 w/fel. i dont even have it yet and i am already thinking of all of the things i will be using it for. i currently own 10 acres of land that is mostly covered in dry land willow, dont know if that is the name for it but that's what we call it down here in King Ranch country, and i am about to purchase another 20 ac. Well like i said i am getting the 4110 w/fel, 6' brave shredder, 6' howse box blade, post hole digger w/9in auger. and a 18 ft. tandem axle trailer, all of this for 22,500. Buying it from Diamond b tractor here in south texas, which i think is owned by bill's tractor in San Antonio. Does this sound resonable? i know you all have heard this question alot these days but i just have to ask it again. Well i will talk with you guys later. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

It's been almost 4 years since I ordered my 4110 but I still remember the anticipation you are feeling!! Mine was delivered right about sundown and before I went to bed that night I had read both the owner's and most of the shop manual, ready to get in the saddle the next morning. I hope you don't plan on having to haul your equipment alot on that 18' trailer - I have a flat 20' with ramps and I wish it were about 4' longer, you'll really have to experiment with loading especially with the rotary cutter attached. I have to load backwards with mine and the tailwheel is hanging over the tongue jack in order to get the tongue weight right on my F250 4x4 Super Duty and have room for my ramps to fold up and miss the loader bucket at the rear. If you don't intend to keep the FEL on much, you will probably be OK, but I seldom take mine off except for repairs. Good luck with your new tractor - you'll find it is a workhorse for it's size.

i was wondering about the trailer being big enough my self, but after talking to my salesman he assured me it wouldn't be a problem. i have a chevy 1 ton dually and was contemplating getting a gooseneck trailer and a little longer but would have driven the price way up so i stuck with this for now, but in the future i will be getting a gooseneck. also i talked a salesman about welding on some hooks on the fel and of course he told me that the manufacturer would rather you not weld anything to the bucket. now my question is, is a tractor manufacturer the same as auto manufacturers in the sense that if you do certain things your tractor they will try and void the warranty or refuse service on warranty claims for that certain part?

They refused to weld a hook to your FEL? Mine got a hook welded at the dealer. I didn't even have to ask for it.

No they didn't refuse to weld hooks on for me, as a matter of fact he said that they would do it. but he also said that the manufacturer (Mahindra) would rather that you didn't. That's why i was wondering if anyone has ever had any problem's with this type of thing? My original bucket on my ML112 loader was a 60" bucket and just this year I bought the newer, 72" quick attach bucket & adapter that come on the 4110's nowadays - I have a grab hook mounted on each of them in the center on top. When I originally put the hook on the old bucket, I bent the bucket a little pretty quick so I straightened it out and welded some heavy angle iron up inside under the lip - has been fine since. Of course I did the same thing to the new bucket from the beginning and haven't had a bit of trouble with it. I can pick up my older Howse 6' rotary (estimated weight around 900 lbs.) and load it on the trailer with nary a moan. Oh yea, besides actually welding the hooks on, I also put a grade 8 bolt thru the hook's eye and all the way thru the backing metal so the stress isn't all pulling directly on the bucket metal alone - spreads the stress over the length of the backing metal which is just shy of the width of the bucket. I used heavy metal too, I think it is 1/4" thick angle, not the lightweight stuff.

I had three hooks welded on my bucket. One in the middle, then one at each end. They come in very handy. I've been handling round bales without a spear by looping a chain around the bale and securing it with the end hooks.

I'm fixin to weld on 3 hooks on my bucket. I ordered them from AW Direct Towing. They are the weld on style. I bought my 3510 from Diamond B also. Clay and Clarrise are good people. Happy Tractoring !!
