Default 4110 has a pto whine

Hi all

Can anyone guess if this sounds ok.

When cruising along with rotary cutter running I hear a whine in pto. About 1/2 speed not much load hit a bump and err..err..err...err...err. Sounds like an old manual trans pickup as it lobs over a hill and sort of coasting on level. When I shut pto off it quits, so I guess it's pto. I can't remember if this is normal as of last year. I can't find tractor manual to check if I missed some oil check point. I'll have to look for it as they are expensive.

Cheers...Coffeeman

Check your Hyd. fluid level first before you use it again.
Have you changed it since it was new?

Coffeeman,

I second the hydraulic fluid level check (rear end).

My 3510 (same tractor, smaller motor) just started the same thing. When PTO all the way up, some whine, especially when unlevel.

I checked the fluid, it is low. Not out, and whine goes away when lowered slightly and top tilt cylinder closed.

It just happened and I checked the fluid (while running) and parked it. I'll put fluid in it as soon as I get the chance.

Sort of like the whine power steering makes when low....

I changed all the oils at 60 hours. (I'm pretty sure I got all of them.) Where do you check the fluid? There is a dipstick on the rear left axel. Darn, I gotta find that owners manual.
