After getting the new bale carrier and the relieve valve replaced the tractor now seems to pick up the bales. I went and got a bale the other day for the critters and it lifted the bale about 80% and then I heard the relief going off. Again these are 5x6 bales. It doesn't seem to me that the 6500 should have trouble lifting any size bale. What is going on here? The hyd level is good, there aren't any obstructions to the 3 point, and I am using a 3 point carrier that uses all 3 links.

The bales that my baler makes have the potential of being 2200lbs. It is a 510jd baler.

Tim, good to hear you got this all sorted out.

Off topic, how is your dog doing now? I know you expected a recovery and he seemed to be doing well after the snakebite, but what is his status now? All better?

Tim,
Where are you hearing the relief valve pop off? Is it located under the seat or in the loader valve? Either of these 2 valves could be set to low and cause your lift problem. The only way to tell is to check the pressure at the loader valve and at the rear remotes. I don't know the exact pressure you should have, right now because I am not at the shop to look it up. Give me a call and I will help you all I can.

Bob, Maghnus is fully recovered. His neck might be a little thicker than normal but he is healthy. Just a couple dots on his face to remember it by.

Galen,

I was wondering if it was something like that. I'll have to pay more attention to the noise later. I am lifting these with the 3 point right now but are you saying that the loader relief could be going off?

Tim
The hydraulic system feeds the loader before it powers the 3ph so the pressure relief on the loader could be the problem just as well as the 3ph relief. The spec shows a maximum of 2600 PSI and I would shoot for that. The 6000 4wd I checked last week only had 2250 PSI before I set it up to 2500 PSI. I don't know if you have the tools to check this but you really have to check it before you do anything else.

Galen,

this makes a great deal of sense. I have a fairly new tractor and the boot on the hydraulic controls for the loader is cracked and oily. This could be from the valve going off. I am following up with my dealer.

Update: I moved some large bales with the tractor last weekend no problem, so now I don't have any clue what is going on. Only difference is that it was warmer outside. I did hear the relief go twice but that was because I was trying to lift a bale that had another bale "leaning on it". Once I drove ahead a bit it was able to lift the bale clear. Guess I just wait and see now, still have over a year of warranty left so should be able to get this figured out if it is still an issue.
