I've up graded from 3510 industrial tires to 4110 ag tires-I'm sure my bh will appreciate it, once I get it back on. I gained about 4.5-5.0"

Doesn't that mean you decreased your digging depth by 5" ??

I honestly never thought of that! My major concern was the bh dragging on everything. I only had about 6" of ground clearance with the backhoe on level ground (I have a pto pump and reservoir). My ground is very uneven and just about every dip or ditch the hoe would drag.

You got me thinking now--what is the digging depth of a backhoe based on?
What is the digging depth of my 3510 with ind tires 42" dia. compared to ag tires at 52"?

What is the digging dept of a 7520 with a 509 bh with 16.9x30" tires- 58" dia.?

well I would have to think it is based on where it is mounted to the machine, and then what the tire height is. When they design the mounts they probably factor in the height of the machine with the standard equipment. Then it just matters how large of hoe you have. I have the 511 hoe on a 6500. Also, I would think they would but I hope your arms still reach the ground to support it. All of this geometry will be changed now. I don't blame you for wanting more clearance though. Just something to think about.

I would think that the stabilizers should be able to go an extra 5". They are designed to push the whole tracto up when fully extend. As for the mod...I agree that I would like to have more groundclearance as well. Think that extra 6" gained will far outweigh the rare occasion where you dig to max depth. Just my 2 cents.

That is a VERY nice upgrade. :) Congratulations! You've suddenly got a 4110 (or darn close) for the price of a 3510 plus new wheels & tires! :) Very cool!

As for the 509's maximum digging depth, you clearly lost something... but you won't find it in Mahindra's specs. The 509's maximum digging depth is given as 9'-8" for both the 3510 and the 4110. It is based on an assumed boom pivot height of 16 inches independent of model and tire selection. I guess if you want to know exact depth, you have to adjust for your tractor's own boom pivot height. I wouldn't worry about it too much... and yes, the stabilizers will work just fine. Your 509 is exactly the same as my 4110's 509... including those stabilizers! :)

Comparing specs, however, does bring up an interesting question: When did the 4110's hydraulic pump output suddenly jump from 7.9 to 9.5 GPM??? I thought both the 3510 and 4110 always had similar 7.9 GPM ratings. Anyone know?

Don't mean to hijack your thread, but how does the 3510 handle the big hoe. I'm considering purchasing a BH, and I'd like to get the 509, but at almost 1500 lbs, its nearly half the 3510's weight. Any problems using it other than the ground clearance issue?

Thanks,
Dave

It's actually closer to 2,000 lbs with bucket, permanent portion of subframe and removable portion of subframe (at least according to my dealer). On the other hand, the ML112 FEL weights 1,250 lbs complete with bucket (according to KMW). Once you add it all up, the weight ratio of moving BH components to tractor, FEL and subframe looks much better. Look at it this way: The 509 works great with the 4110+ML112... and the only difference from the stock 3510+ML112 is 486 pounds. If necessary, you could add that much weight (or more) by loading the tires.

I sold a 3510/ml112/509 tractor loader backhoe to a man that works for a contractor by day operating a full size dedicated backhoe all day. He says his machine will do almost anything the backhoe he runs at work will do. He does costom work with the 3510 on his own time.

By the way that 486# weight difference in the 3510 and 4110 is all in the bigger wheels & tires and one engine cylinder. I find it hard to believe there is that much difference.

Be careful which 3510 your talking about. The 3510 SS and the 3510 HST are not the same machines........ Even though they are 10 series......

The biggest Hoe on a 3510 HST is the 3375 .... the 3510 is the 509 .

When I bought mine you could get a 511 on a 3510 , but not now......
