Default Good price on MF 1455 ?

I'm looking at a 2003/04 (?) MF 1455 4WD with a MF 1040 FEL. It has loaded tires in the rear, foamed in the front, new forks and tire chains for the rear tires. Has the 16/16 shuttle shift.

The tractor has 177 hours but... the old engine got ruined and was just replaced under warranty by the dealer. So, it's a tractor with 177 hrs and an engine with about 1 hour on it.

Body work is showroom shine condition.

Tractor was used to mow, do some logging via a farmers winch on the 3 pt hitch, and bucket work with dirt and snow.

He's asking $20,000. for the package so he can get some different equipment.

How's that sound for the price ?

Mornin whatsgnu,
That MF 1455 is a great tractor, but it sounds like all your getting is the tractor and front FEL ??? Is that correct ? For that money I would look at a brand new MF 1540, IMO. If your getting more attachments let us know !

I agree. The price is too high. I paid under $18000 new with a FEL and loaded tires

Hey whatsgnu, what new with you??

On the MF1455 deal I am not as sure of it being a bad deal myself...

1. New engine 4cyl. 55hp
2. the 16x16 trans is a pricey option
3. pto hp45.6
4. 1600 # lift on the FEL
5.3000 # lift on 3pt.
6. shiny sheet metal $$

Price shopping for a comparable model you need to look at the 1552 or the 1560 ,the latter being closer to what you have in pto hp....

A little homework for you would be to check the prices on the new 1552 & 1560 and before armed when going back to the 1455 with your offer lower than 20k
Do you need the 55hp? because if you do a 1540 isn't 55hp...its 40hp

I would love to have the 16x16 trans in my tractor

Edit: just checked tractor house and a 1560 w/fel $28k MASSEY-FERGUSON 1560 For Sale at TractorHouse.com

1455 , don't forget to compare the options

Hey Mark,
How you doin buddy ? You make some valid points that I cant really argue with ! But a motor that was ruined after 177 hours ? So what if anything happened to the trans or the rest of the tractor for that matter ? I just have some reservations with what I have heard so far, maybe Im just weary ?

BTW my MF 1040 has over 1500 hrs since 1986 and the diesel still purrs like a kitty, OK maybe a mountain lion !

Hi Scotty, We are doin Good & busy, Working alot of overtime....(good time of year for it since it is cold) I noticed you were MIA for a week or so? Everything going ok for you?

And now back to the thread , I would think the trans and other working parts would be able to be tested before buying , But as in any $$$ transaction if your spider sense is tingling it might be a warning....

Another side bar: I have my own little story about my spyder sense falling asleep on me,and was gotcha'd ...But it was just my labor and a couple $$ to make it right.. But thats ancient history now...

Best of Luck with your decision...
