Default Re: Free AK-47

I personally do not have a problem with my fingerprints or DNA being in a Law Enforcement data base. Those of us that served in the military have had our fingerprints in a data base for years. I have never lost any sleep over this fact and never consider it an invasion of my rights. Now if I was one of the individuals making a six plus tax free yearly income from selling firearms to the criminal element or gaining my livelihood from criminal activity I would be greatly concerned. I would like to live in a perfect society where every one was truthful and forthright, but sadly to say I and others do not. I would also like for Law Enforcement to at least have a starting point if, God forbid I or a member of my family was ever seriously injured or killed by an individual who got up that morning and decided killing people with a firearm that day would gain him/her national media attention. Granted the firearm is an inert instrument and had to have an idiot controling it to cause such mayhem and destruction. In my opinion we will continue to see criminal behavior increase in the US until we as a Nation step outside the box and say, "What Worked 200 Years Ago To Control Criminal Behavior Will Not Work Today". I personally think it would be nice and refreshing for the inert instrument to provide information that led to the arrest and assisted in the conviction of the idiot who used it to kill or injured either myself or a loved one.

$50 says this thread gets locked before another 20 posts. I hope not, interesting discussion but I bet it'll veer that way.

My .002 and experience.....
"Fingerprints or DNA being in a Law Enforcement data base."
I'm not aware of any examples of problems arising from this.
I am however aware of crimes solved using this data collected from people who previously were not known as criminals. To me it just speaks to making ones decisions based on right and wrong rather than based on the odds of getting caught.
"Every firearm sold .... subjected to a ballistic test at time of manufacture and the ballistic information on the projectile maintained in a data base.
Along with firearm ownership comes a great responsibility. This would create a trail of responsibility. This would reinforce the rights of responsible gun owners.

They interviewed the guy and he said, "every man needs a good fishing boat, a solid tractor and a gun." Makes sense to me!!

I thought that was a pretty good promotion...
Notice that the guys says.

Good boat.
Solid tractor
Nothing about a good gun. Which is an ak-47, nothing close to a good gun.

Guy should be giving out Rem 700's or a Mossberg 12ga or something like that. I wonder how the dealer ensures that the purchasers are legal to own guns.

Here come the AK lovers...

"do you own an AK, and how would you know that it's not a good gun"
-why would I own something that wasn't a good gun.

Anytime, any place, 200 yard 40 shots your Ak versus my AR15 or DPMS 308.

An AK47 is decent gun for its purpose--cheaply made, easily fixed in the field, doesn't jam too much (although I have seen it happen in combat--thank god or one of my Soldiers would still not have his head), and nearly indestructible. It is not too accurate.

To the poster ref guys making six figures off illegal gun sales--having been around the gun business for 32 years, I have never ever seen this. Most criminal elements get their stuff via theft and perhaps resell to each other.

Look, it is this simple. I haven't been in the military for 13 years to have my livestocked chipped, the FDA up my butt about how I grow my spinach, or my DNA/Prints/Ballistics on file. We have an implied right to privacy and the explicit rights to property and the "pursuit of happiness" without daily interferrence from big brother. I am about friggen tired of this slow (but speeding up) march to the nanny state via apathy and brainwashed communists and facists that make up the two major parties (same, same). The founding fathers are rolling in their graves but who cares? The constitution is only a piece of paper, correct?

Oh I don't know...I think what worked 200 years ago would solve many criminal problems today. We coddle the criminals too much. Horse thiefs etc used to be just shot on the spot.

LBrown, I was worried it would get political. Hope it does not, did you get your free gun yet?
