Default what to buy? mf 2625 or jd 5103 fwd

i got to buy a tractor and have narrowed it down to these two. a 2625 fwd or a jd 5103. the only thing i using the tractor for is to pull around a 3 inch reel and be able to pull it out 300 feet. any help would be great.

Not comparing the same sized tractors. The MF 2625 is 54 PTO/63 Engine HP and the JD 5103 is 38 PTO/45 Engine. That is closer to the MF2615 42 PTO/49 Engine HP. SO you are getting more Horsepower from the MF2625 almost a 1/3 more.

i got the mf 2625 mfwd with shuttle and a fel and it is complete garbage. i have a mf 2605 and love it but the 2625 is terrible. runs like a farm pro.

Why do you say "it runs like garbage"? I have a 2625 4wd shuttle and it runs fine, but with only 20 hours it already has two different leaks. One in the front near the crankshaft pulley and the other is a hydraulic leak in the rear. This tractor has been babied since day one and I've only used it to bushhog, yet it leaks like it has 1000 hours. Funny thing is this is my second 2625 4wd. the first wasn't shuttle so I traded for one with the shuttle, and that one leaked too, but not in the same place. I don't know whats going on with these tractors, only reason I went with Massey was because I have a 231s and knock on wood it hasn't given me a minutes trouble. Hopefully this tractor is just as good as the 200 series, but I'm having doubts....

if there is any pressure on the motor it will choke out. i went back to the dealer and drove a 2615 and no problems. i think its the 4 cylinder. i think they just are not that good. i have 2605 and it is great. no problems and real strong when it comes to the motor.

Sounds like there is a problem with it if it dies under a load. Maybe fuel supply issues? Did you talk with your dealer about it?

There is something wrong with that engine if it is chocking down. Before I would trade I would get a good mechanic to check the unit out to see what the problem is. I've never traded down in horsepower. I don't think that you would be happy.
