Default Aerator for 2600

I'm looking to purchase a 3 pt aerator for my MF 2600. Don't want the pull behind nor do I want the type that you have to put concrete blocks on. Has anyone purchased and installed one of these. Have been told that because it is a sub-compact many of the aerators won't fit. Need some expert advice from people that own MF's.

Thanks,

Mike

Prices of aerators varies greatly and can get quite expensive. The big name implement makers have aerators that run well over $1k range.. But there are a few brands that are under $1k (some in the $500 range)..

Lowes was carrying a 3pt aerator, but it had to be ordered thru their special order catalog.. it was made by the same company that makes the pull behinds you find in the big box stores, but I cant remember the name..

Woods makes an aerator that weighs in at about 650 lbs. 3 point hitch type. I want to buy one soon for fall use...but I'll have to locate a used one because new they run about $2,300.00. Nope, that is not a misprint. I've seen 'em used for around $1,300.00.

No disrespect intended...but I wouldn't look to Lowes for an aerator.

Thanks for the information. We both agree on the Lowe's or other Big Box Stores for an aerator. That stuff is normally junk and doesn't do the job or last. I was also told LandPride makes a good one but it is also around 2k. Will have to find a used one in good condition if there are any around. Again thanks for the response.

A couple of years ago I saw a pretty nice one at one of the Massey dealers. It was a Husqvarna since that is the brand of chain saws, etc. that they handled. I think it was around $600.00. Oops, the one they make is a pull behind.

I actually run a 60" core aerator with the Kioti name brand on the 3pt hitch of my gc2300...in normal loamy soil I probably wouldn't have to put concrte on it but the clay down here in NC gets baked all summer and so it needs the extra weight- the whole setup probably tops +/- 800 lbs but i works great and the little GC handles it just fine (I tend to take the FEL off to lighten the tractor and the front end gets a little light but nothing too serious)
