Tractor
still looking
This is a continuation of http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/massey-ferguson-buying-pricing/152073-why-so-hard-get-quote.html ... didn't want to hijack the OP's thread. :)

I've been pricing a 1635 with factory cab and I have what I think is a reasonable price for the 1635. So, dealer says he can't give a confirmed quote on a 1643 since the tractor won't be available until November. No telling where the dollar exchange rate will be at that time. All he can offer is the 1643 is generally $2500 more than the 1635.

Any comments or opinions on that?

Most people dont complain about having more power. And the 2500 in this case is cheap horespower.

I really do like those 1600 series machines. Very nice.

Did you try central equipment in truro? I thought they had a 1643, but i could be wrong (might have been a 35)

I have been talking with John and Central. Real nice guy. Patient, and willing to explain. He can probably sell ice to an Eskimo. :) I've been talking to him about Kubotas mostly. He did send me quotes on the MF1635 along with misc Wallenstein attachments. Comparing his prices to that of Proudfoot's, his prices higher. Especially on the attachments.

True enough, nobody complains about more HP. But its a gamble to wait until November because if the Cdn $ were to drop even 5 cents or so I could end up paying much more than I want.

I'm not in a hurry for the tractor but its a tough decision. Buy now with a good price and get a less HP tractor. Or wait it out 2-3 months for more HP knowing I'll pay more..but how much??

Johns a pretty nice guy for sure... Talk the ear of ya if you let him:D Plus there service guys are pretty good. Theve gone in on Sundays and everything when i had a problem with a B26.

Proudfoots are pretty good too. We have lots of Honda stuff from them. Their prices are very competitive. Brocks pretty nice, if a little different..:D but i have no issues buying from them either.

Hard to say what to do.. wait for the 43 or get the 35 now. Id probably wait...ANd hope that nothing changes.. or maybe see whats available on tractorhouse. Plus that would give an idea of what other dealer are selling for.

Has the 43 been released anywhere?

EDIT: Looks like its available in the states.

I don't know about the 1600 series, but most everybody that has posted here in the past about the 1500 series has said that they wish that they had gone for the extra HP. If you are up over 4000 ft, for sure go with the turbo motor.

I did order the MF1643. Its 4cyl with turbo. I'm only about 180 ft up in elevation (so I'm told).
