Here is a picture of a different mf 165 that i found ... this one is for sale for 3800 ... there are a couple of red flags to me though ...

one, the tires are really worn on the back - the owner states he doesn't know how many hours are on it as the counter stopped working - in addition, the FEL looks to be have been re-inforced on the arms with some metal plates - in addition, there is no PTO on this unit - thoughts?

the serial number is 9AI75457

Pretty close to a 165 anyway....MF40 industrial. Looks like it's led a life typical of most industrial tractors. Price is in line with average. Most folks wouldn't want a tractor without PTO, so industrials sell for less once they get long in the tooth. 35 or 40 years of loader work can take a tole on a tractor.

If that is the same loader that is on my fathers tractor (and think it is) the upper crosstube has been raised about a foot, his goes across about even with the hydro lines that cross over hanging out in space on that one. His tractor looks similar to that one but it has a squared off bottom to the front. A couple of pix that I have handy from a few years back...

His is a Industrial 35 with a 6' bucket on the front and it has a PTO on the back. It has been a good tractor, however it needed wheel weights and chains to do any kind of loader work. We have had to rebuild the power steering ram and pump (the ram leaked and the pump was run dry a couple of times, which necessitated rebuilding it) and fix the high-lo planetary gear (a common problem apparently) but it has been a very reliable tractor. It runs a 5 or 6 foot bushhog like it isn't hardly there and does pretty good.

well, I am lined up to purchase the 1968 mf 165 for $1100 ... my brother works with a local mechanic ... they are going to repair the front left wheel (bearing), replace the wiring, spark plugs, change all fluids and tune it up for me ... after that, I hope to find someone to paint it for me - thanks again for all of the help - I will post pictures once i have some.

also, does anyone know how to get in touch with Big Dean or maybe have a disc set for this tract they want to sell - thanks.
