So those are my choices, and best I can see they are all basically the same size (whl), around the same weight (400lbs from 1533-1643), same capacity loaders, same 3ph, pretty close hydraulics, same tranny choices ... so whats the difference between the 1500 and 1600 series ? Granted the 1643 has a much larger engine than the others, but its around 8k more than the 1540 (not my fave choice for the added complexity of the turbo)

I drove the 1540 and 1635 before I bought my 1643. I like the fit and finish if the 1600's. I also went with the 1643 for more horse power. I think it better to have a little more than you need then not have enough. I have been more than happy with it. I have a buddy buy a L4400 a few months before I got mine. I let him play on it for a while and he was sick that he bought the 4400.

thats pretty much what everyone has been telling me ... get the most hp for the budget its just a bit confusing to tell the difference between a 1533 for 19.5k and a 1635 for 31.9k ... the 1540/1643 is a bit clearer because of the engine sizes (700cc more) and the price diff between them here is 25k to 33.9k all of them with fel/cab

i also just got called from a kubota dealer for a m5100 for 27k with fel/platform ... bigger hp (same cc's tho) but with bugs/winter being the 2 seasons around here open platform at crawl is not fun at all

Not sure where you are but, I only paid 25,800 for mine, with no cab.

up in Canada ... prices are always higher ... but that price is with cab too (had enough cold winters and getting eaten alive the rest of the year)

I can't speak about the 1600s except to say that there was a hydraulic issue with the early 1500s that was fixed in the later 1500s, and I think may have been totally redesigned in the 1600s. But I'm not sure because I don't know anyone around here with a 1600 series.

The main difference between the 1533 and the 1540 is the turbo. It boosts pto hp enough for the 1540 to handle a 6' bushhog better. A 1533 will handle one, but not in thick stuff. I don't know how much mowing you do, if any, but I would've bought the 1540 over 1533 if I had it to do over. My 1533 has done everything I've asked and been reliable, but I would like a 6' bushshog to save time.

As far as all 4 choices, I'd get the most hp I could if $$$ weren't a big issue.

1600 series is an upgraded version of the 1500 series. I know that one of the differences is that only 2 rear remotes are available on the 1500 series where as 3 rear remotes can be had on the 1600 series. I'm pretty sure that the 1540 is-was not available with a cab due to the turbo. And not to get into the turbo non turbo debate, but there are not really any negatives only positive things other than initial cost to having a turbo.

Are all of these the same basic chassis size/tire size and take the same FEL?? I'm thinking of selling my L4400 and looking into a Massey.

The 1600 series take the DL range of Loaders. They are sweet, thats for sure. Oh I want one, but gotta wait for my job to stabilize.

Hi. I just bought (2 month ago ) a 1643 hst, r4 tires, 2 remotes in the rear, loader, quick steer, 72 hd bucket , platform for $28,000 in Quebec. I LOVE IT.So smooth to drive, the platform is mounted on rubber,,,,,a dream. Think that the 1643 have the same 4 cylinders engine as the 1648 !!! So it is never pushed to it,s limits.

Overszd, as you can see my name is Roger 4400, I was dreaming of a Kubota L4400 till I tried one.....It was a deception for me:( It was vibrating, almost slip out of it ( painted floor)I did not like the seat of course it is MY OPINION....but go and try a 1643 and look at all it gives you compared to a L 4400, drive one and you will understand ( no vibration, rubber floor, spacious, confortable , adjustable 3 points links, easy PTO,cruise control, more hydraulic flow AND it also has a cup holder:D:D here some photos to help you both. Have a nice day
