Here in Illinois farmers don't pay sales tax on equipment purchases.

Pretty sure that here anything over 60PTO HP here is ag and therefore exempt.

we have ag exemption here in texas as well.on everything that can be used on a farm,as long as you have a farm.
I tried to pull this off here in Indiana "land of taxes". Only applies to equipment purchased that is to be used in the direct production of an agricultural product for sale. Also, I believe those sales have to hit a certain threshold to apply like $1500/year. Therefore, if equipment is used for such things as maintaining fence rows or road maint, it does not qualify for sales tax exemption. Pretty much if it doesn't plow, seed, or harvest you will pay sales tax.

No tax on ag equipment in TN if you have tax exempt certificate. Otherwise is 9.75%.

In Washington state, sales tax is paid on all vehicle purchases. On the plus side, we don't have income tax, and the tax I paid on my GC2410 last year is part of a large sales tax deduction on my federal taxes this year.
