Hi everyone I am new to the site and have been reading a lot about MF tractors. I have found a 1979 2675 MF with 2550 hrs on it. It has the 24 speed trans and looks good from what I can tell. The only thing is I have heard the transmissions were not the best on these older tractors but it has all been hear say from people who have never owned one. Anyone have any experience with these older MF? They only want $6500 for it, so I keep looking at it wondering if I should take the chance or not.

Was it the 24 speed or the straight 8 trans? And what were you using the tractor for to brake it? I really want this one for baling hay and brush hogging.

If it has Multi Power I would consider passing on it.

Ours (late FIL tractor) has MP but I wish it was the standard 8 speed in our 1976 265 but hey it is part of the family. He had the MP worked on once 10-15 years ago. It works fine but I see it too dangerous for the kids to use on our hills because it free wheels in low MP.

8 speed.it was used for heavy tillage .it has been awhile but the trans case broke at the pinion. defiantly was not as strong as a ih or deere.

I've been aroung lots of 2'3000 series running 5 of them on custom silage and potato work and owned 3 ourselves all up to the 7-8000hr mark without any gearbox trouble and i find they are as good as any of that era , far better than a white case tranny..More brake trouble than anything I'm looking for another 2675/2705/3505/3525 now

mine had less than 3000 hrs when it broke.i know of a bunch of jds with over 15000 hrs.we used to break every acre every year. jd and ih hold up. around here a mf 2675 would bring about a third of a comparable jd.

All brands have horror stories , We put a new powershift in a 4000 hr JD 4450 once too and lots of rear ends in case MX's . Masseys are cheap , Ideal for hay .
