Other than the 2.5HP and bit more hydraulic flow, is there anything else different between the GC1710 and GC1720? Is it just through RPM's? Injector pump?

Wondering if the difference is noticeable for the extra 1K.

Thanks

If like the 2410/2610 predecessors...exact same machine.
Fuel pump adjustment only...was told by my dealer...I then bargained myself a 2610 at the price of 2410 !
It does run at a slightly higher RPM on mid and back pto's.

I had a 2310 at one time and I was pretty impressed with the power of it, especially the BH. Seeing the specs of the two models, what is suspect to me, is developing hp by 2600rpm and 3000pm between the two models. If those numbers were the same then the difference would be more credible. I could be wrong, but I doubt there is much real world difference.

What I would suggest is emailing Massey with the specific questions. In the past I had emailed them and received pretty quick replies. Might be worth a shot. Also, post if you receive an explanation as their answer would be interesting.

I've got a 1705 on the way myself, I couldn't justify the bump in rpm's/power though I wouldn't mind being able to tweak the 1705 to reach the extra 400rpm and hp numbers.

That's what I was thinking. If it is just a injector pump tweak... however I am surprised no one else has a write up on how to do it if it is just that. After warranty is over of course.....

I believe there are some additional differences...for example the turn signal/blinker lights on the 1710 do not have the metal guard, the 1720 does. You'd need to talk with a dealer or at least go look at them yourself. There was almost a negligible different in price between the GC2400 and GC2600, but when they switched over to the 1700 series, they took some cost of the the lower cost model to make more of a difference between the two.

If you run the 1705/1710 at a higher RPM, won't the PTO's run at a higher RPM also though? You'd be about 15% high, so the rear 540 would really be about 620 and the mid 2000 would be just over 2300 rpm. I don't know how big deal that is. I doubt the extra couple HP will be noticeable for just loader work, but could make a difference with powering attachments I suppose.

I was just looking at the specs and it looks like all the models from the 1705-1720 reach 540rpm at 2000RPM.

I think you may be reading the brochure incorrectly. Its has 2 numbers, the rear PTO RPMs and the mid PTO RPMS, neither of those numbers is engine RPMs. Each model will provide those standard output rpms (540 and 2000) very near to the max engine RPMS 2600 for the 1705/1710 or 3000 for the 1715/1720.
