Tractor
Farmtrac 360 DTC TLB
I have come across the two lately in 4x4 with FEL that seem smaller in dimension although not HP than the typical utility tractor. The 362 struck me as utility for sure with the amount of steel there but the 240 was just a drive by. I like the looks of these but want clear move up from my large compact FT 360 DTC at 39 HP but weighing only 3000lb ballasted to do things such as pull a 6' bush hog and have the gut to pull 18" or occasionally larger logs. We are without a MF dealer at this time and the website is vague about the new models, maybe the lines between large compacts and utility is disappearing for them?
Thanks

240 is an very close relative to MF35 and 135 and its grandfather is the grey Fergi, very well build units that runs easy 10000h with normal maintenance, ca 50hp engine.

Thanks Agvg, it seems the 240 is on the small side for a 6' rotary cutter in hill country. I might give the 362 another look or even consider a larger 2wd Massey like the 165

165 and the 362 is the same size as hp and share much the same mechanichs.

I had a MF240D, no FEL. Used a heavy duty 3 point, 7' brush hog on it. All 4 tires were filled with antifreeze, went across the scales at just over 6300 pounds.

Hey rogdan, this is my first post, been lurking for a while. We have a 1996 MF 240 with loader and are located in WV. Its been a great machine. Like Agvg said, its a close cousin to the 35 - we also have a 1956 TO35 as well. Ours has fluid in the rear wheels. It weighed 5500 pounds dry, so Xfaxman's numbers with fluid are just about where ours would be probably.

We use ours for loader work and haying. We've mowed with a Krone AM-203S disc mower - that's used the most power of anything we've had on it and it handled it fine. The tractor is nice, because it has a lower center of gravity than some - feels a lot better on the hills. The 240 is an "economy" model, all mechanical, Live PTO (dual clutch). I personally like that - I've gotten used to being able to just stomp on the clutch if I want the PTO to stop. Ours has a 8x2 transmission, I'm not sure if a shuttle shift was available. The transmission is not synchronized, not a big deal for what we do.

I don't think you'd have an issue with it and a 6 foot brush hog. We've pulled logs with ours and its been good - usually use the 3pt hitch to lift the end before pulling (MF hydraulics are pretty good). Its definitely a solid utility tractor, just not as much power as the 362 would have. The 362 is probably solid as well, would love to have a look at it.

Thanks for the replies, sorry I have been away for a while. We are supposed to get a replacement MF dealership nearby this fall and am encouraged by the folks setting this up considering future service and repair.
It does seem that both would be an significant step up from my TLB and I haven't found a person around tractors that hade negative things to say about MF. I'm going to keep an eye out for what comes up for sale after the haying season.
